Customers are mixed about the performance of the surveillance system. Some mention that it works well, while others say that it didn't work properly after they replaced the USB power supply. The device began to perform erratically and abruptly stops communicating with the ST hub. It is cheap and bends easily, making it very unreliable.

Customers are mixed about the ease of installation. Some mention that it works with SmartThings and is super easy to set up, while others say that it requires a bit of work to set it up and has complicated config. The installation is trivial if you're screwing it into wood or plastic, while pairing with Smartthings was simple. However, some say that the device has a lot of complicated confguration, the install into the corner was a little tricky, and there's a long gap in updating or detecting humidity changes.

Some hurdles to overcome. Too New for Smarthings, but they're working on it.
I received the sensor and was already aware that I would need to find batteries. This was no easy task as CR123A is unheard of. So, I went to my local Lewis store and found a Duracell package that had 123 printed on it, but was not the model. The nice lady at the store opened the package right up and popped the batteries in and found that they worked! Score. $15 for two batteries. Ouch! The lady said that they would work for a very long time. I took her word for it. It's Duracell, right? So, enough with the battery dilemma. I went home with batteries and sensor in hand and unboxed it. Popped the batteries in and put the back on. You need the back installed because there is a little indentation in the back panel that is the activation button. The directions clearly say that if you are going to run this off of battery, you need to pair it on battery and not on usb or the sensor will act as a repeater because it thinks it's being powered by USB power. (Shortening the life of your $15 batteries) Press and hold the button. It paired right up, but wait. It's only detecting motion because that's what I chose for a sensor. But, it shows all of the readings when looking at the settings. On to Smartthings chat support where I found that they don't have an actual handler for this sensor. But, one is close to release, they say. I'll take that. I did locate a smart light handler in the market that will suit my immediate needs. I could not get the smartthings automations to control anything with this sensor, but after talking with technical support, I understand that they're working on it. So, I'll wait for that to happen. As for battery life, I've had the sensor plugged in for a week now and still reading 100% battery life. I feel like the Lewis lady wasn't lying. This room is where we spend most of our time, so it's getting a fair workout. The install into the corner was a bit tricky because with the screws, it's awkward to place it without dropping things. (I'm still looking for one of the screws that I dropped on the floor while trying to install).Be careful not to install the sensor too tight into a corner or you'll have a difficult time screwing the sensor to the attachment. In anticipation for future automation, I ordered a second sensor. I like the look and functions of the sensor so far. It's very responsive and has good range. It also blends in quietly. I really believe that this sensor has potential in my Smartthings world when they get the official handler finished.UPDATE:I received the second sensor. This one didn't want to pair right away and still no official SmartThings handler. I wanted to use this in a different room, but the range is about 15 feet, so I had to use it to cover the rest of the room I already have a sensor in so I could control everything. For the price, I really wish the range was a bit better. Also, it really matters on the orientation of the sensor. I couldn't get it to read motion from 11 feet away and found that when the orientation is where the writing on the back is right side up (mounted in a corner). Although there is nothing indicating this, the manual does show an oblong coverage area. It worked for me to orient it this way and it started to detect movement from 11 feet away.Still like the sensor, but I wish they'd improve it give the price of this little guy.
