About the author

Hi there, I'm Chris Moujaes (here’s a hint: Mo-JEYE-es), the creator of Flux Destiny and a few other original fictional universes. I'm a film executive, producer, character designer, and writer as well as a full-time dad to two little girls, a cat named Sheldon and my best buddy, Bentley an Australian Shepherd.
I'm the founder of Herohelix, a studio that develops, producers and distributes original brands like books, graphic novels, animation, and merchandise. It's at Herohelix where I spend my time developing, writing and art directing universes like Flux Destiny.
I graduated in 2001 from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Radio-Television-Film. Since then, I've spent most of my early career as an entertainment and animation executive who specializes in developing, financing, producing, and distributing animated motion pictures, live action films and music for the international marketplace.
From 2009 to 2015 I was the Head of Original Entertainment at FUNimation Entertainment, a leader in Japanese anime distribution. Over my 6 years with the studio, I managed millions of dollars in motion picture production and development, oversaw the creative development of dozens of films, and supervised the production of all original movies as Executive Producer. The highlight of my time there was serving as executive producer of the Dragon Age and Mass Effect anime movies based on the hit video games by BioWare.
A big shout out to all my fans who continue to support my studio's work! It's fans like you who allow small independent studios to produce thoughtful originals in a market saturated with sequels and big franchises.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2017I have known about these characters for some time from the author putting out the comic "Battle Gate" but I have honestly been behind on any adventures or inside information for a long time. So when I picked up this book I approached the story from an almost fresh mind and pair of eyes.
At first I was worried that the story wouldn't be interesting to those who weren't familiar with the heroes. I was extremely wrong. Sure, there is information in it that more in-depth fans would pick up but the way the book is written there was plenty of moments where it was explained for those who wouldn't know and it not disrupt the flow of the story.
Which, the flow? Decently paced. My _only_ complaint was it felt a little rushed and muddied towards the end. That could just be me but do not in the least bit let that detour you from the overall amazing composition, chemistry, and world that is laid out for you. The author has done an outstanding job of creating a world that can suck you in and descriptions that allow you to really use your imagination to experience the story. I have always known the author as an artist and I am glad to see that he has included artistry with words to his repertoire without being too wordy or dragging out unnecessary details.
I highly recommend for anyone who is interested in the series whether by just coming across it or has been newly introduced. You will not be disappointed.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2018First let me start by saying that I don’t usually read young adult fantasy books, but a friend of mine who has been trying to get me into them for years had just read this book and highly recommended it as a good one to try. She has been a Flux Destiny universe for some time and has been raving about this fandom.
Result: I COULDN’T put it down!
I was drawn into the author’s intricate universe and the rocky relationship between the two leads, Marco and Hugo. The pacing is superb and the mix of action/comedy/drama was so well balanced. I went through so many emotions!
I have to also add that now that I’ve finished the book, I can see why this book has such great reviews and why its fandom is so loyal. Now that my friend has successfully sucked me into the world of YA fantasy books, I CANNOT wait for this author to release the next one!!!
I loved it so much I’m recommending it to my book club!

- Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2018I love the flow of this story. It's smooth and the story itself is very entertaining. I love how it gets serious at parts and humorous at others. I am eagerly anticipating the next novel; I want to know what happens next and I want to see how Marco and Hugo's tense partnership unfolds and grows. Great job Chris, I'm so proud of you. Keep it up. I recommend this book and artist to anyone and everyone. You'll love it all.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2017Flux Desiny: Fortuna's Rings takes a concept and story that may be hard for some people to understand and morphs it into an enjoyable story filled with humor and suspense. Chris Moujaes's ability to take abstract scientific ideas and turn them into plausible theories along with his care for his own characters makes the story a hard one to put down. Fast paced switches between explaining the science of what a Flux Destiny is, to comical humor of the character's own interactions and finally to their own personality flaws and coping mechanisms keep the reader constantly guessing what exactly will happen next. This book is a promising first step into the world of Flux Destiny that parallels Moujaes's comics, and can easily get any new reader drawn into what has been dubbed the Flux Family.
