I purchased to line patio curtains because of the heat in Arizona. It worked perfectly to reflect heat from my patio door.Energy report shows 9% decrease over last year.you can actually feel the difference in the room when the curtains are down.
I live on a ranch in the middle of several national parks and forests. We're off the grid. We have to make sure when we leave for a week that everything is kept warm enough to avoid freezing. I've made slip covers for our toilets. (They have frozen and cracked before). I've made covers for shower faucets. (They have frozen and broken before). I've made covers for doors that I attach around the door frame using Velcro. It really keeps the cold out. I made a huge cover for the stair well up to fourth floor. It keeps warm air from drifting up and reflects it back down to lower floors during the winter. With some imagination, there are all kinds of uses. This will help us avoid catastrophe in the future. We've really had some problems in the past. This stuff really helps reflect heat.
I live on the northern plains (think sub zero temps with lots of wind) and had tried all sorts of window coverings on the north side of the house. Nothing worked as well as the Insul-Shine. I cut it a little over sized to extend beyond the window frame, folded over one end and stitched it to make a casing, hung it on a rod/dowel behind the curtains. I was able to turn down the heat and the house stayed comfortable on even the coldest days. Very happy with this product! One thing-the instructions on the wrapper say not to expose Insul-Shine to direct sunlight, and suggest using a fabric liner.
I have used it for several years on the windows of my apartment in summer to keep out the heat. I actually made a set of cafe curtains for my picture window which cover the bottom two thirds of the window and let light in above. The curtains really cut down on the intense heat and sunlight that comes in

Product came quickly. Upon opening packaging I saw that parts of the product had double gashes about 5-6" long diagonally thru the shiny part of the material. A bit frustrating. But was in a hurry to get my curtains made before our first big trip. I ended up losing about a foot or two of the fabric because if these double cuts.
The product itself is what I needed/wanted as I have used it previously but the item was obviously damaged prior to packaging for shipping- arrived with a a box cutter slice on the outer fabric. This should have been noted on the item description and the item should have been discounted for this issue.
