The Solids Starter Kit makes it truly easy to freeze and store big batches of healthy, home-made baby puree and food for older babies. These unique baby food freezer trays are Mom-designed to help you keep up with your baby’s growing appetite.

A rounded shape makes the cubes easy to remove one-by-one and totally eliminates the problem of removing one cube at a time from the ice cube trays. Simply push down on one end of the cube and it slides right out the other end. If the cube is stuck, just run a little warm water over the back to release it. Do NOT twist trays!

Although the Solids Starter Kit was designed for freezing baby food, they have lots of other uses as well. They're great for storing breast milk, or freezing meals for older babies. Loved using this to baby meal prep. I had no issues with freezer burns once popping the cubes out and transferring it to a ziploc bag. It is also fun creating many different flavors and colors of baby food. I plan on reusing this as ice cube trays once we are done with baby food since these lay flat and does not take much room in the freezer

    I wanted to make my own baby food and there are SO many options for storage that it is overwhelming. I debated buying something like this that you can take the food out of, or something that you just keep the food in to store and serve. Finally, I narrowed it down to these or the Beaba trays, and since the Beaba trays only hold 7-2 ounce servings and these hold 4 times that amount for the same price, I chose these. I'm so happy I did!

    I personally had no trouble removing green beans from these trays, but I only waited about 3 hours before removing them. I guess maybe if you left them overnight or for several days, they might be trickier to remove. But in my case they popped right out just like they are supposed to. It was so easy to spread the food into the trays with a spatula. The trays even fit in my tiny, narrow, side-by-side freezer, which seems like it doesn't hold anything.

    I'm really pleased with these. They are easy to wash and you can make a lot of food at once. The lids fit nice and are easy to remove. I like that they are clear and you can see right away what kind of food you have in the tray.

    I haven't tried any of the e-recipes. I just use the wholesome baby food website, which is fabulous and free!

    If you make large batches of food, these are a good deal. If you are like me and plan to mix foods together when my baby gets older (apples and pumpkin for example) these are the perfect size for first feedings and for mixing when baby gets older. If your baby eats larger amounts, just use more cubes. Less goes to waste if the baby eats less.

    Update:
    I left the food about 6 hours the second time around, and it was indeed frozen solid. A quick swipe of the bottom of the tray under warm water and 5 minutes later, my green beans popped right out with no issues. Loving these!

    I read a lot of other reviews for many baby foods before settling on this one. This one works exactly as described. Essentially it's a very well-made plastic ice tray. What makes this better than other ice tray is that its plastic is sturdy, each cube is at 1 oz, there's a lip so any spillage is contained, and a tight-fitting lid to prevent freezer burn. The footprint is slim and small; once frozen, you can line them up like filing folders. I also like that it's transparent. My pediatrician recommended giving my then 5-month-old baby 1 tablespoon a day. I measured out one tablespoon of my puree into one cube, and I was able to eyeball the rest of the cubes from the side. My now 6-month-old is obvious she wants more, so all I have to do is grab two of the 1-tbsp cubes. A lot of reviews complained about not being able to pop out the cubes. I haven't had any problems yet. I am able to apply gentle pressure on one side to slide it out after 5 minutes of taking it out of the freezer. To heat up the cubes, I put the cubes into a small mason jar, and submerge it into hot water (like I would heat up my breastmilk) (I am avoiding the microwave because I am using my milk to thin out the puree). I like these so much that I bought another set when these went on lighting deal. As a working mom, I love that I can take only one morning of a weekend to make her food to last a whole month. When she out grows this, I am sure I will be using these trays to make my lemon juice cubes that I always make ahead or freeze some herbs in olive oil. These are dishwasher-safe too.

    Update on 10/27/15 ~ My baby is now almost 11-month-old. From 5 month on to 9 month, I was still pureeing a lot of fruits and veggies and filling them out. Now that my baby is pass that, I am still finding myself using these more than ever. Here are some of the stuff I fill them with:

    - Grind up lean meat (chicken breast, pork chops, etc)
    - Grind up carrots, slices of ginger
    - Steamed apples (cubed), sliced bananas

    All these are great to have on hand for when you want to add some flavor to otherwise plain oatmeal or plain scramble eggs. I use them to make a small batch of rice porridge. Or just fry them up for a quick dinner.

    I really love these trays. It makes freezing baby food a breeze. I haven't had any issues removing the cubes as others have mentioned. Running a small amount of hot water over the bottom (I use the sprayer so I don't get water in the food) loosens them up enough to pop out by pressing on one end of the cube. Keep in mind, the more water there is in the food (like applesauce or pears) the more solid it will be after freezing, so some things require a little more hot water rinsing. They are dishwasher safe which makes cleaning a easy. Each cube holds a full 1 oz of food so measuring out quantities is a no brainer. Yes, this may be a glorified ice cube tray, but the edge that it holds over the other trays is the amount of food you can freeze at one time. Each tray holds 21 cubes, so 42 ounces of freezing. I can make 3 batches of food at one time and freeze...huge time saver! The trays also fit well in the freezer without taking up much more space. They will easily stack over or under other items.

    My only complaint is the price as I felt it was a bit steep. Granted, when I was searching for trays, many cost slightly less and held 1/4 of the amount of food that these trays do. Expensive?...yes. Worth it?...yes.

    Ich benutze die Gefrierform zum Einfrieren von Fleisch für Babybreie. Die einzelnen Mulden fassen ca. 30 Gramm, also die optimale Menge Fleisch für eine Portion Brei. Die Portionen lassen sich sehr leicht mit einem Teelöffel o.ä. aus der Form lösen. Pluspunkt für die flache Form und dafür, dass man die Formen durch die flachen Mulden im Deckel gut stapeln kann. Der Preis mag zunächst abschrecken, aber in die 42 Fächer kriegt man ja auch einiges rein.
    Zur Auslaufsicherheit kann ich nichts sagen, da ich, wie gesagt, nur püriertes Fleisch eingefroren habe - da suppte nichts.
