Marvel Cosmic Universe is sometimes a mixed bad, was not the biggest fan of the sh'ar empire but this event is incredible, do yourself a favor and get into this story

This massive volume contains much of the content that followed the War of Kings event, so if you haven’t already picked up that Omnibus you should do so before attempting to read this. This collects Realm of Kings in its entirety plus a lot of other great issues. Many of the stories contained within would be severely out of context without reading War of Kings first. There will also be a road to War of Kings Omnibus coming out soon that you might also want to wait for. That said, this is a typical Marvel Omnibus; featuring high quality binding, glossy pages on nice paper stock and contains a great selection of issues. As with many works by Abnett & Lanning, this is a cosmic tale from the Marvel Universe and should not be missed. It is very much like their previous important event Annihilation and reminds me a lot of that event. I would highly recommend picking this up elsewhere while it is cheap and before it goes out of print. I personally wouldn’t pay $100 when I could easily get it for $50 elsewhere. Abnett and Lanning are masters of weaving cosmic tales and this is certainly no exception. If you liked the Infinity saga (by Starlin) or Annihilation by Abnett and Lanning I would definitely recommend checking out this massive volume!

This book is a must-have to finish up the cosmic era of marvel that ended with the Annihilators: Earthfall series. Realm of Kings was good, its tie-ins were even better, Thanos Imperative was great, the Nova issues were great, and while Annihilators had promise that went unfulfilled (I would have enjoyed a series with this group) it was still a nice ending.

As a choice for the second Marvel Omnibus to add to my collection, this was well worth it. What Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning helped Kieth Giffen start in Annihilation (2006) ends here in a blaze of glory. Abnett and Lanning spent years building towards this in books such as Nova and Guardians of the Galaxy as well as events like War of Kings. The biggest strength of their writing for me was a careful, connected continuity across their various titles. An event that happened in one book would oftentimes effect another book. That might not be great for anyone not following all the titles but I personally loved it. Every artist on these issues deserve praise for their work and world-building as well. The whole collection is a joy to look at. Prepare for the final fate of the Guardians, The Fault, Nova, and others then witness the birth of something new. The end of an era is collected here and well worth the price. It is a Marvel Omnibus so expect the highest quality. If you liked this era of Cosmic Marvel stories this is definitely something to add to your collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finale delle saghe cosmiche post-classiche.
Reviewed in Italy on May 7, 2017

5.0 out of 5 stars Top notch

Abnett and Lanning's run from Annihilation and through to the end of this book is simply outstanding. Of the five Omnibus books, this is one of my personal favourites, though it is a little bittersweet as Marvel's subsequent takes on the 'cosmic' part of its universe don't really dovetail in with this work. But then this is kind of the point of Abnett and Lanning's work, it didn't really tie in with the greater Marvel Universe, and benefitted from it as they were able to take neglected or overlooked characters and put them in a universe that was a t times a little more outlandish than the 'core' comics universe.
This book is of the usual Omnibus quality - that is, excellent. The storied are bunched together in shorter runs of the various titles (Nova,GotG, Realm of Kings itself, and others), and I like it that way. In the previous War of Kings Omnibus Marvel had a dilemma as to whether to put everything in a chronological reading order, or keep runs of titles grouped together. They opted for the latter, which I think I prefer overall, but I know some would have preferred the story to run linearly in the whole book. In the case of Realm of Kings, though, this is not really an issue. In fact, I think having gaps of a few issues where issues from another title are left unresolved adds to the suspense.
All in all, good stuff. I didn't really care for the Son of Hulk stuff - it seemed totally extraneous and I found myself resorting to google to find out who this character was. All the Abnett and Lanning stuff though is of the very highest quality.
I originally read a lot of this on Marvel's infinite comics, but I felt that I should be buying this book so as to show m appreciation! Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Personally i loved this omnibus

First off.... this is a direct continuation from the war of kings omnibus. I def reccomend you read that before you read this. Personally i loved this omnibus. Even more than war of kings. One big plus is that its mostly in chronogical order. Where as war of kings was not. This was a much smoother read.

The story itself is great. It def has the feel of an end of an epic. Everything the writers, adnett and lanning, have been building to, over the years starting with annihilation storyline, comes to a head here. And its huge. This, in my opinion, is the successor of the past cosmic saga that was infinity gauntlet and its sequels. In other words. If you love cosmic epics. Get this book.

This book does have some flaws though. Like the son of hulk storyline. Why the hell was this included? Has nothing to do with the main storyline. I had no idea what was going on. Felt totally out of place in this book. Another problem i had was the gaurdians of the galaxy issues. Do not get me wrong. The story was great. But the art!!!! They had two artists rotating between issues. And oh boy. Was it jarring. One issue would look great. Then the next looked like other crap. Was kinda irritating.

But all in all, great read. I own war of kings omnibus. This omnibus. And i plan on getting the upcoming prelude omnibus. Yes. Its alot of reading. And will cost a fair amount of money. But its damn worth it.

Great comic. Huge filled with tons of stories and plot twists. The cancer verse is here! Twisted versions of marvel's greatest heroes and villains. This of course follows war of kings. However you can jump In and read it from here and still get the gist of what when where who and why. Definitely one of my top 3 omnibus.
