About the author

Jodi was raised out in the country in the bootheel of Missouri, where farmland is prevalent and so is hospitality. She is the youngest of three, with two older brothers. Jodi played sports throughout her education and her first job was on a potato farm. She played outside, loved the open sky, and dreamed of creating something special someday.
Jodi grew up in the church but as she matured, she found herself searching for more. In high school she found a youth group where she discovered her desire to deepen her relationship with Jesus.
Jodi completed her education at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri obtaining her degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing/Management. This is where she met Stefan and her heart was captivated. She dated him for five years and now they recently celebrated their thirteen year anniversary.
Jodi is now a mama to three spirited boys who grow her faith and her heart daily. With rough-housing sessions in the living room floor and legos underfoot, Jodi finds refuge from the masculinity with her (girl) dog Izzy. In a house full of boys you’d think Jodi would feel out of place, but she is happy and at home in the cuddly arms of her husband and sons. Jodi left the banking industry in 2018 and now homeschools her boys. She cheers on her St. Louis Cardinals in her remaining spare moments. She is active with her church family, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.

Two answers:
First of all, this project didn't start with Jodi. It started with the Lord, who then called her to this project. The woman works full time and has three small kids. It is not reasonable for a person to commit to taking a writing course, then to actually complete the project in the short time that she did. But God gave her the vision, the time, and the words. She was simply obedient and He blessed that. Secondly, throughout the book she's authentic and real. She doesn't pretend to be a parenting expert; throughout the book she shares the good, the bad, and the ugly in her experiences as a mom of three little boys. Regular, every-day parents like you and me can easily identify with her stories and lessons learned along the way. You find yourself zipping through the pages of the book because it's just like your life. It's always comforting to know you aren't the only one who doesn't have it together 100% of the time.
You can easily read Little Moments, Big God in a little over an hour, or take a few minutes each day to work your way through the 16 chapters. Jodi's purpose is to share with her readers what God has taught her about His character since becoming a mom. Not only does she share what she's learned, she has also included many poignant verses from scripture to underscore her words.
My favorite takeaways:
God is very present in the little moments of life and we don't need to go far to find him. He walks with us through the daily grind. He has a plan in the chaos of parenthood and each trial can and will teach us. Jodi shared that while she expected to teach her kids, she never expected her kids to teach her. I so can identify with that!! A blogger I read calls her kids holy sandpaper -- meaning that God uses them to refine her on a daily basis. Jodi says in chapter 3, "Don't be so fixated on teaching them that you miss the things God can teach you." I love this exhortation to be teachable and humble.
The need to control everything is rooted in fear, and fear is rooted in a lack of trust in God. When we're stressed, we really need to get in the Word. And we need to reflect on our lives and ask ourselves "When hasn't he taken care of me?" to remember that he's always taken care of us and always will. Loved Jodi's thoughts on anger and that our anger towards are children often stems from underlying issues. If we're angry for our kids not doing something after they've been asked 100 times, why did we, the parents, let it get that bad without consequences in the first place?
There is no true break in parenthood. We must die to ourselves because that is our calling not just in parenthood, but in a life committed to serving Jesus Christ. Also, Jesus died to self with perfection. I never really thought about it that way. And speaking of Jesus, as we observe Him in scripture, when He disciplines, it's always with love, never shame. What a great observation. Finally, I was challenged by Jodi's reminders in the final chapters to be nourished by the Word, to completely obey the Lord, and to wear my spiritual armor. For me personally, the easiest thing to shove to the side is my spiritual walk and I felt like my friend was sitting her next to me providing accountability.
As we notice the behaviors and quirks of our children, we can reflect on our own behaviors and quirks in our relationship with God. How we see our child might be how God sees us as his children. As we change the way we parent, we also change ourselves. Children learn to trust when those that love them take care of them with gentleness and nurturing. The heart of God is to love us but we need to receive that love with the trust of a child.
There are so many delightful nuggets of truth in this book. It will expand your understanding of parenting and bring out the wonderment of the child within you.
God uses our role as parents (or teachers, or grandparents) to continuously teach how to be closer to Him, she writes.
She tells her stories, and insights learned, in 16 short meditations, with one theme: Love is always a choice.
I think this book would be especially helpful and supportive to young parents or young people who plan someday to become parents. The short meditations are ideal for morning and evening devotions. Each could also serve as the basis of a sermon, for ministers or priests looking for inspiration.
Seeing motherhood, parenthood, as a calling and not a burden is not terribly uncommon - though it is commendable. But being open to Life Lessons from your 4 year old is pretty remarkable.
If you need to smile and grin while picking up the scriptural perspective of some of life's challenging motherhood moments - you owe it to yourself to read this delightful volume. It's a quick and fun book that will have you looking for the Truth in your family situations!
