About the author

Aaron Conaway was born and raised in Southwest Missouri, weaving stories out of the dark woods, rolling fields, and lonely country roads to entertain family and friends. Living in Kansas City, Missouri now, Aaron makes up stories more than he eats, eats more than he sleeps, and has been given to frequent a Ferris wheel when occasion permits.
Aaron authors urban fantasy in The Timberhaven Chronicles, horror in The Michael Gideon Collection, and is the creator of Jan the Vagabond, a comic book from his Wandering Wizard Comics imprint. He is also the co-founder of New Vision Comics Collective, where he writes the Harrowed Earth novella series and the anthology comic book Vision Tales.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 29, 2020The mark of a great author, especially ones who writes about magic, BELIEVES in magic. There are elements of many other writers in the urban fantasy genre prevalent in this work: a dash of Charles de Lint, a pinch of Neil Gaiman . . . but Aaron Conaway is truly a storyteller all his own. And that's exactly what this tale is about . . . spinning yarns, or rather, WEAVING them. As any reader of Mr. Conaway's can attest, this is exactly what he does . . . before you know it you are sucked into HIS story, the work itself weaving you into its wonderful world full of dreams and realities that may or may not exist, humming voices in your ear, and eccentric characters that have fallen right out of Lewis Carroll's subconscious such as the man/woman Lady Nicoline who fishes with olives as bait, the enigmatic Corabeth, the fortune telling Madam Xaxu, the hulkish but brainy Thegan . . . all residents of the enchanting town of Timberhaven (I am a personal devotee of the milk-jug-hat-wearing-and-animal-whisperer Lord Jarboe of Tater Town). Like Faulkner's Yoknapatawpha County, King's Castle Rock, or even Lynch's Twin Peaks . . . Timberhaven itself is the main character of the story (sorry Michael Gideon), dynamic and alive, a playground for Conaway's own dreams and nightmares! And it all works because Conaway is an expert storyteller, it is in his blood, felt in his exciting and witty prose, pulling us in with a first person narrative through the eyes of a struggling writer who may or may not be another version of Conaway, but it doesn't matter, because we become him . . . and Aaron Conaway does this so well because he doesn't give you extra fluff, there is no pretentious experimentation in this work that might push a reader away. This is truly a book anyone can read and then, eventually, come to believe in magic themselves. Aaron Conaway believes in magic . . . WAKING THE WEAVER is proof of that! Now, let him weave you in!

- Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2018Loved this book from start to finish. The book is full of mysteries that the main character, Michael, is trying to solve. Not only is he trying to solve the mysteries of the town, but its inhabitants too. These characters run the scale from Sane to Insane, making Michael question his own sanity along the way. I truly enjoyed this book & can't wait for the next one in the series. Keep up the great work! ❤
- Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2018Waking the Weaver was a fantastic read! My husband and I both read it and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's filled with many likable, quirky characters that keep your interest. Loved the idea and the setting. There are many enticing storylines -- some that leave you guessing -- which only adds to the intrigue. We can't wait for book #2 so we can uncover more Timberhaven mysteries!
