About this item
- Ratcheting mechanism with adjustable clamping force allows for precise, repeatable crimps; Compound action design puts more crimping power into each squeeze.
- Double crimping die creates a secure crimp that resists pull-out; Ratcheting function allows you to secure a wire connector in the die before inserting the stripped wire into the barrel.
- Quick release lever frees the crimper jaws in any position and when double crimp is complete. It acts as a built-in safety measure that can open the handles whenever tool is jammed or stuck.
- Steel jaw contains color-coded wire size markings for red (22-18 AWG), blue (16-14 AWG), and yellow (12-10 AWG) terminals; Ergonomic bi-material handles offer a comfortable, secure grip
- Ideal for nylon insulated solderless terminals; Not recommended for use with heat-shrink connectors.

From the brand
From the manufacturer
Titan Tools 11477 Ratcheting Wire Terminal Crimper is the essential crimping tool for insulated terminals. Whether you’re an electrician or non-professional, this is the perfect crimping tool for you. It crimps 22-10 gauge insulated terminals with a dual crimp that improves wire retention.
Features
Adjustable Compression Wheel
Adjustable clamping force coupled with ratcheting mechanism enables precise, repeatable crimps. Compression wheel can be adjusted by removing fastener. Twist right to tighten and left to loosen.
Built-in Safety
If the tool becomes stuck or jammed, lift the quick release lever and the tool will open.
Ratcheting Mechanism
Ratcheting action allows for precise, repeatable crimps and prevents over crimping that would damage wire and terminal. It also conveniently enables you to secure a wire connector in the die before inserting the stripped wire into the barrel.
HOW TO OPERATE:
1) Open the tool by squeezing the handles completely. At the end of the closed stroke, the ratchet mechanism will release the handles, and the tool will spring open.
2) Place the terminal in the proper crimping chamber (match color code to terminal insulation).
3) Hold the terminal in position and gently squeeze the tool handles together until ratchet engages sufficiently to hold the terminal. DO NOT deform the wire barrel.
4) Insert the stripped wire into the terminal barrel and while holding the wire in place, squeeze handles together until the ratchet releases. Allow the tool handles to open and remove the crimped terminal.

The price was reasonable compared to other crimpers and the feel of the tool is solid making me believe it will last for years. These is no play in the working of the mechanism and it seems to have a high build quality. I am considering another purchase of this tool for my shop because I have to go to the work van to retrieve this one every time I need it at home.
I am happy with this tool and will not go back to the old way of crimping with a cheap single crimp scissor type crimper.
Pros:
Solidly constructed
A comfortable grip
Solid crimps
Reasonable price point
Cons:
None
***UPDATE***
I purchased a second pair of this tool for use at home in my shop and it works just as well as the first pair. Will never again try crimping wire connectors without them.
Then I used the Titan crimper with Wirefy copper connectors available on Amazon. The Wirefy connectors are made of 100% copper with a 3:1 polyeolefin shrink tube integrated on the connector. The key here is the copper connector - it's softer than steel, compresses completely and far more easily than the cheap steel connectors. The Wirefy connectors are not cheap but they work great with the Titan crimpers. I could not get the cheap steel connectors to crimp with my old crimping tool - so it's not the tool, its the actual connector you are using.
Pro:
-Heavy duty, well made tool
-Crimps copper connectors very solidly - I've used it on 12 - 18 gauge copper wire with no issues
-The Red/Blue/Yellow designation on the crimper jaws is handy
Con:
-No release - if you put a heavy duty yellow steel connector in the Titan crimper, you'd better have a hand like Hellboy or a bench vise near by.
-Not the best design for leverage - the handles are too close together and there is not enough mechanical advantage.
I can understand why some folks mught be disappointed in this tool. But with large steel connectors or even smaller steel connectors you need a LOT of force to compress them - almost pneumatic or hydraulic. This is a $25 hand tool - understand the limitations and buy the proper connectors and you will give this tool a 4-5 star rating. If you don't, it explains the 1-2 star ratings.
