This should be fine for the usual 50 amp outlets, like a dryer ( because it is unlikely to be used for an extended period of time) or an electric range (because it will not be plugged, withdrawn, again plugged, withdrawn, etc.). The conditions required for an EV outlet (such as TESLA) require high current for prolonged periods of time, and repeated plugging and unplugging, those are conditions this outlet is likely unsuitable for. Furthermore, and very importantly, my understanding is electrical code requires outlets to be installed to manufacturer specifications. In this instance the type of unit required is better served with Allen screws, rather than Phillips head screws (this outlet has Phillips head screws), so that the required torque to 75 in/lbs. with a torque screwdriver can be achieved. That is best achieved with a HUBBELL NEMA 1450 Industrial receptacle with Allen Head screws, using a torque screwdriver (see the link

or alternatively Bryant 9450FR (made by Hubbell) Industrial receptacle. Do not forget to ground the green connector to the gang box. Use professional connectors and correct "wiggle technique tightening" or consider using ferrules. There are other options as well. Lastly, I AM NOT an electrician, just a homeowner who did some study. That all been said, I advise all to utilize the services of a professional licensed electrician for many reasons. However, having this information will empower you to be sure the electrician you personally have is fully aware of the dangers of using an incorrect outlet, as well as being aware of best practice techniques, and avoiding a disaster. Better to pay the extra price on this one for SURE. I hope this helps.

Good for at least 32A.
I need to supply 32A continuous out of this outlet and it seems to do the job well. After an hour or more of use with ambient temperature around 70 degree F, the plug connecting to it just felt lukewarm to touch. Before this I was using a leviton from home depot. With the same load the plug was very hot to touch and the blade on plug was nearly scorching hot.The good about this outlet is the design of how wires are clamed down as showing in the picture. The metal is plated steel or something, not looking like copper. The contact are full width at both sides, unlike the leviton one.I think this is a good product at $12 for my need. At $20, there could be better choice with copper contact.
