Product Description

Magnetic lock

An electromagnetic lock, magnetic lock, is a locking device that consists of an electromagnet and an armature plate used for access control door locks. By attaching this to the door frame and the armature plate to the door, a current passing through the electromagnet attracts the armature plate, holding the access control door lock shut.

Unlike an electric strike access control door lock a magnetic lock has no interconnecting parts.it is possible to bypass the lock by disrupting the power supply. According to the different doors, sometimes will need U brackets or L&Z brackets to support mounting. Also, it can work with networking access control system which includes electric lock, power supply, access controller, exit button, door bell or RFID cards.

Product Wiring:

1.Working mode: fail-safe (Power-on lock,Power off unlock)

2.LED Status indicator: turn on when locking, turn off when unlock

(some mode without LED Status indicator)

3.The red wire is anode “+” electrode ,the black wire is cathode “-”electrode.

Product Installation:

Based on the different doors and swinging direction, additional brackets(original package not included),like U brackets or L&Z brackets maybe require to support mounting. Please refer to the detailed product manual.

Great piece of hardware. Just needs better instructions

Great piece of hardware. Just needs better instructions
I bought this to secure an automated swinging driveway gate that I just installed. I didn't like that the gate was only held in the closed position by the operator arm, so that any pressure on the gate in either direction (wind, someone pushing on it) would strain, and possibly damage, the arm. The gate control box was designed to support a solenoid or magnetic latch, so the wiring was very simple. Mounting the lock was a bit more of a challenge, but once I had fabricated a mounting plate, it was pretty straight-forward.Different applications will require different mounting methods, but the important thing is to keep the operating principle of the lock in mind: it's meant to hold the metal block flat against the electromagnet, and prevent them from being pulled straight apart (perpendicular to the plane of the block.) It will not work well at stopping them from being slid apart, twisted, etc. It's also not meant for picking-up any metal object, so that is not a good test of its holding power. The key to keeping the plate flat against the electromagnet is to mount the block with some play, where it can move slightly to align itself with the magnet. In my case, I made a flat mounting bracket with 3 holes for the block: a center one for the mounting bolt, and two to line-up with the roll pins that I drove into the two small holes on the block. The instruction sheet shows 2 rubber grommets to go on those pins, though they were not included in what I received, and IMHO would limit movement unnecessarily. There was a fiber washer and a metal washer included, which I put on the bolt between the mounting plate and the block to hold them slightly apart. I didn't tighten down on that bolt, but used two back-to-back locking nuts to hold it in place. I made the holes for the rolled pins big enough to allow for some play, and those pins prevent the block from rotating around the bolt. The second photo is before I cleaned-up the installation, since you can better see how the pins are in the bracket. In the photos you may notice that the wires are exposed. For a security installation, that would be bad, since anyone could just cut the wires to disable the lock. However, I'm only concerned with preventing the gate from being forced against the operator arm (there's an unlocked passage gate 10' away from the driveway gate, so it's not for preventing intruders.) But for any security installation they should be run in a way that they're not exposed like that.So I deducted 1 star due to lack of good documentation, but I have no complaints with the equipment itself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Maglock for the price
Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2018
First I was a little skeptical given the price, however once I got this bad boy hooked up, it works like a charm! Currently using it to secure a desk cabinet and it does the job quite well. As for the bad reviews saying it doesn't hold much force, you have to make sure the armature plate makes full contact with the magnet. If it doesn't, it won't hold like it should! With my installation, it took a few settings since it was awkward to mount. When I thought I had it, it definitely wasn't holding like it should have but that was because my temporary securement of the lock moved ever so slightly. Once I got it properly set and verify it held properly, all is well.

I will say that the little spring loaded button in the armature plate causes this lock to be a little noisy when locking a door that doesn't have enough force to press down on it (it'll make a loud clank sound when it locks), but compared for the price for other locks of the same size, I can live with it. I could probably remove it, but it's so minor, it's not a big deal.
