"We measured the temperature with each of these two thermometers on children and compared the reading to the rectal temperature, which is generally considered the standard. Essentially we found that by every measure that we used, the temporal artery thermometer was more accurate than the tympanic." ~ David Greenes, M.D., Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School: National Public Radio interview

Accurate - tested along with hospital-grade thermometer & doctor office therm
This is a must-have thermometer for parents. It is accurate within 1/10 of a degree when I checked my kid's temperature using this, a hospital thermometer (also Exergen brand), and a thermometer at the doctor's office (rectal). It is super easy to use: pop off the plastic protective cap, place flush on kid's forehead, and scan from middle of forehead to either temple. The most difficult part is angling it so it is flush with the forehead. It doesn't fit in my hand ergonomically - the hospital grade thermometer fits much better. So it takes a little practice.I've used it on sleeping baby, and it did not wake baby. There is an option to turn the beeping off, if that bothers you.The display casts just enough light to be able to use this in the dark - again, very handy for a sleeping kid. There is only one button, so if you took a temperature and accidentally press it too many times, you toggle through the menu instead of being able to re-take the temperature again. It was a good buy, worth the price for the convenience and accuracy. It can be used on everyone in the family, infants and adults. It's worth the investment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Messgenauigkeit!
Reviewed in Germany on December 6, 2016
