Product Description
Plugable USB 2.0 Micro-B OTG 10/100 Fast Ethernet Adapter
An Ethernet Adapter for Phones, Tablets, and Tiny Computers
The Plugable USB 2.0 OTG Micro-B to 10/100 Fast Ethernet Adapter (USB2-OTGE100) combines the compact external design and wide compatibility of our popular USB2-E100 adapter, with an OTG Micro-B connector.
This makes it a great choice for easy connection to compatible tablets, smartphones, and small computers like the Raspberry Pi Zero that support the ASIX AX88772A chipset. Wired Ethernet via this adapter can provide fast and reliable streaming, networking, internet browsing and more.
Some common uses include:
- Replacing or adding a wired Ethernet connection
- Connecting a compatible tablet or smartphone directly to a network through an Ethernet cable when Wi-Fi is unavailable or a hard-wired connection is preferred
- Improve connection speed and reliability for devices compared to most Wi-Fi networks
- Add wired network capability to tablets, phones, and other compatible devices that have only wireless built-in
Note: Not all Android devices are compatible with this adapter. For Android devices, please confirm if your phone or tablet is compatible with the ASIX AX88772A chipset before purchase. You can find the latest compatibility details in the Product Information box below under Specification Sheet.
If your Android phone/tablet already has the driver for this Ethernet adapter built in, it should work as soon as the adapter is plugged into a Micro USB port. Some Android devices don't have the driver built in. If this is the case for your device, this adapter will not work.
Compatibility
- Compatible with all Windows 11, 10 and 8.x tablets that have a Micro USB port. The device driver is built into Windows 11, 10, and 8.x
- Android compatibility is on a case basis, and is determined by the device manufacturer. See our Specification Sheet in the Technical Specification section of the listing
- A good fit for Raspberry Pi Zero, and compatible with Raspberry Pi OS. (We test the adapter on the official Raspberry Pi OS, and cannot confirm compatibility with other operating systems or physical hardware add on items like hats, and other secondary boards)
- NOT compatible with Apple (iPhone/iPad), Amazon, HTC, or LG devices
Note: Some Android versions don't show any external indication of a successful connection through Ethernet. The only way to know for sure is to go into Airplane mode, then try to check email or view a webpage. If you are successful, the Ethernet connection is functioning properly.
Performance
- Full 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet performance over the USB 2.0 480Mbps bus
- Uses standard 8P8C Wired Ethernet Connection
- Compact size and portability
- Great for travel
Note: If your computer or tablet has a full-sized USB port but no Micro-B USB port, use Plugable's USB2-E100 Ethernet adapter instead.
Please note, this adapter is NOT a solution for connecting USB devices like printers, hard drives, etc. to a network. This adapter cannot be used to share Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or data between multiple devices.

Update
Marshmallow has introduced usb ethernet under the developer settings. However still Samsung, LG and HTC phones running Android 6.0 do not support this adapter.
Hope the review is helpful for someone planning to buy this adapter for an android device.
Update:
Samsung S8 / S8 Plus phones have ethernet settings in the settings menu and it works with type C to ethernet adapter.
Update (25 Aug 2017):
Works with Lenovo Phab 2
Works with Moto G 5th Gen
It has a little sticker with a website for drivers - but none were on the website and it seem to work fine with the Raspberry Pi OS Lite right out of the box.
Seems pretty stable so far.
It was easy to plug in to the micro-B USB connection on the tablet. I went into the tablet's Connections page and disabled the WiFi. Then I looked further down the Connections page and clicked on "More connection settings". The Ethernet title was not grayed out, but it was bold! When I plugged in an ethernet cable from the LAN switch, the link and activity lights lit up! Touching the Ethernet title, caused the "Connect to Ethernet network" radio button to come up, so I turned it on. The status changed to "Connected". Under the "Configure Ethernet device" title, you get the option to use DHCP or enter a Static IP address. I elected to use a DHCP-provided address this time.
So, the next step was trying to use Chrome to browse the Internet. It worked perfectly!
Last step was to go to the Play Store and install the free version of Network Manager. I am now able to ping, traceroute, and monitor the LAN.
This is a very nice OTG network adapter! I recommend it for anyone who wants a wired ethernet connection for their Galaxy Tab S2.
I hooked up the new one, and already noticed that it hardly worked unless the cable was pretty much within a 20-degree range either way of being perfectly straight downward. I managed to hook my phone up in such a way where minimal phone movement would be required at all for hours of work. I got about five good days out of this new one until I woke up today to find the thing completely dead and non-responsive. I hardly even used it the previous day and had changed absolutely nothing about the process I go about using it.
EDIT: Almost immediately after reporting that mentioned above, Plugable contacted me and sent me a tested replacement unit for my more recent purchase of the product. It arrived relatively quickly within the next few days, and since then it's been working perfectly. Even better than my first initial purchase actually. So far I haven't had a single problem with this one yet, and knowing how I usually take care of my stuff, I'm not expecting to anytime soon.
Thank you Plugable for the excellent customer support!

I've connected it at the back of my ISP's router to a Raspberry Pi Zero, in a heat-dissipating aluminum FLIRC case. The Zero, with this ethernet dongle, draws between 0.23 and 0.35 Amps from the router's otherwise unused USB 3 port, and serves my residence very well as a Pi-hole/ad-blocker.
This adapter seems to efficiently look after all thing 'ethernet', and not burden the low-power consuming SBC/RPZ.
I occasionally detach from the router and use the RPZ and this ethernet dongle as a headless SBC (leveraging VNC) for GPIO experiments.
This ethernet adapter and the RPZ are a perfect pair. (FWIW the RPZ is using Raspberry Pi OS 32-bit Buster/10)
Bei zwei Originaladaptern Kabelbrüche an der Sollbruchstelle trotz pfleglicher Behandlung, und das bei über 50 Euro pro Stück. Preis Leistung sind hier top und auch die Lieferung ging schneller als erwartet. Klare Kaufempfehlung.1
