Product Description
For small form factor enthusiasts, the standard SFX power supply form factor has excellent combination of size, power, and affordability. At 100mm deep, however, the standard SFX PSU is also limited in fan size to 80mm. While advances in engineering and components have made modern high-end SFX PSUs quieter than ever, there is still inherent limitation with 80mm fan's ability to dissipate heat at maximum loading conditions while maintaining satisfactory noise profile for users sensitive to higher-pitch sounds. With this in mind, Silverstone has released a "lengthened" variation of the SFX form factor called, SFX-L. With 30mm of added depth, a SFX-L power supply has enough room to fit a 120mm fan, thus its maximum load noise can be not only lower in intensity (via slower fan speed), but also lower in pitch (due to larger fan size). The first model to debut in the SFX-L will be the SX500-LG, a 500W model that includes all features available from top of the line SFX Silverstone PSUs such as 80 PLUS Gold efficiency, modular flexible flat cables, and semi-finless capability. An ATX adapter bracket is included as well to enable users to install this PSU into any small or even larger cases that do not have SFX mounting holes.

I assumed the pc died. Either the PSU blew up or the MOBO was fried. But the next day I when I tried to turn it on again, it was working and just like new! Turns out it was some sort of safety mechanism by the the SilverStone PSU that prevented the system from booting if the temperature is too hot and it prevented the system from being fried when it sensed a large electrical discharge.
On top of all that, after 2 years and this incident, it still runs smoothly and silently and keeps the system cool.
Worth. Every. Penny.
**UPDATE**
It's 2020, 4 years later, in a hotter climate with worse electrical current and still going strong.
Note that the fan is always running. For the bigger ATX PSUs I will often turn it upside down so it exhausts air from the inside of the case (helps the intake fans), but that doesn't work so well with this PSU... the fan ramps up too much and is more noisy than the case fan when I have it situated that way. So definitely orient it so the intake is up against a grill.

If you are building a mini itx computer I highly recommend this power supply by Silverstone.
Small form factor without having to use a smaller fan
Included mounting bracket
Flexible Black Cables
Fully modular for easier upgrades and maintenance. (Used non modular power supplies and will not go back)
Zero RPM fan for silent operation
And of course the pimpin snowflake on the fan grill
The 500W:
- Too large to accommodate a full sized GPU in this case... though not a knock specifically against this product, it is something to consider on smaller builds.
- The Fan wobbles and makes a rubbing sound. This is a complaint I've read both here, on Newegg, and other various forums. Thought it works in "Silent" mode, even at low levels of load the fan spins up, and is noticeably audible. This was a big problem for me as one of my build parameters was to be ultra-quiet
The 600W:
- Started to fail after only 1 year of operation.
- The fan is extremely loud, and spins up quickly with even minimal loading. Many people have pointed this out, and the only real solution is to replace the fan in it with a similar sized noctua.
- Runs noticeably warmer than it's 500W sibling.
The options are limited for small form factor power supplies, and both of these have their faults. I would highly advise steering away from the 600W supply as it does have repeatedly reported reliability issues. Both of the supplies have issues with noise from the fans.
Luckily there are other options now. Anyone looking for an SFX power supply should do themselves a favor and check out the Corsair SF600:
https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-SF600-Performance-Power-Supply/dp/B01CGI5M24/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1465937155&sr=1-1&keywords=corsair+sf600
I've had this power supply installed in my machine since the Silverstone started failing, and I am 100% satisfied to date. It runs extremely silent and cool. The only knock I have against it are the cables that you have to use, but that is a nitpick compared to reliability.

GPU:Geforce GTX1660 Super(125w)
Gold認証なので省エネや耐久性にも安心感があります。
