I was worried about how well these would work in a CNC wood engraving application. My worries were wrong, however. I'm still on my first bit after 15 hours of carving hardwoods like oak. I've crashed the bit into the material several times (gcode sender errors) without any damage to it either. These are great bits and give great clean results. Will be buying more if I ever manage to dull these.

Super fine 0.1mm etch bit

There is little to no information provided with these upon arrival, no markings on the bits themselves. I had to refer to the order to identify what sizes they were. No diameters, angle degrees, bit speeds or mm/sec run speeds were suggested, basically a box of bits with some hand written Chinese on a white label.

I was able to confirm with digital measurements:

3.15mm shank
30 degree blade
.1mm point

I run at 12k to 16k rpm with different mm/sec depending on the quality and run-time desired. I also run w/o coolant and the etch comes out nice but depth is only at .005 to .01 so coolant is not really necessary anyway. The end result is a super fine etch. Do be careful when setting Z as the 0.1mm tips do not always trigger the z-plane circuit upon touch and can mark your sensor and/or damage the tip.

More durable than expected

Not a whole lot to say. Still on the first bit and have accidentally crashed it twice not to hard but for the size of the bit I just knew it was gonna be broken but it's still going strong with clean cuts. I'm using them to mill anodized coating off of aluminum business cards.

Not sharp, tears up the wood

I bought these to use with my 3018 cnc machine. The machine came with 10 engraving bits, 0.1 mm tip, 30 degree taper. I thought these bits would be a good replacement for the ones that came with the machine. I was wrong. The first bit I used tore up the red oak I was engraving. I had to go back over the work with a razor blade to clean up the edges. I did not have this problem with the bits that came with the machine. I will try some of the other bits in the package on some scrap wood. Maybe these dull bits could be used for milling out the center, and then change to a better bit for the edge work.

Impressive little bits

Excellent quality bits, very true to center and extremely sharp. Sharp enough to lay my hand open almost to the bone when I was careless around one chucked up in my (powered off and not moving) CNC router.

My only complaint is that they dull fairly quickly when engraving 6061 aluminum. Not really the tool's fault, since it is still HSS. The coating works well for a while, but engraving really only uses about 5-10 thousandths of the end of the bit, and even carbide won't stand up to that for long. For the money, it's hard to go wrong.
