Bought it for my dog, kids love it, too!

- Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2010We bought this for our daughter when she was around 11 months. She is now 13 months and is in the phase of playing the piano with her butt, where she basically stands up in front of it, turns around, and then sits on the keys and bounces around. She does make music this way, and smiles a lot and really enjoys it - then turns around and bangs a few keys with her fingers. She has also had her stuffed gorilla play a few keys, and she has tried playing with her feet. So yes, she is a little young, but that's why we bought it - the exposure is awesome and this is a genuine piano, it's in-tune and can take a beating. I am so glad we bought it and expect it to be popular with her for a couple more years. And the red color - are you kidding me? So cute..

I believe it is a gateway toy to real interest in using their mind to create something in concert with their hands. Not a program or an app, but an actual connection with a sound and a feeling that comes from making something from imagination. Oh, my dog, Otto, loves it as well. He is a crowd pleaser and he plays aggressively and this sweet little instrument holds up to his pounding! He hasn't tried to set it on fire yet, but, he bangs on it like his dinner depends on it! (It doesn't.)

Images in this review - Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2009My son took an interest in my mom's piano at only a couple months of age. I searched local stores and the internet for a "real" piano. I wanted something simple: black and white keys, not electronic/battery operated, just something that resembled a real piano for my son to bang on. This fit the bill perfectly. I got my son this for Christmas and is now 5.5 months old and he loves it. It is the perfect height for him to sit and play away. I also love the bring shiny red color. It is bright, fun, gender neutral, and classic looking. When I read some of the reviews, some people were disappointed in the piano's sound. It is does not sound like a "real piano", but for a $50 toy, I did not expect it to. Real pianos cost thousands of dollars. It has the chime-like sound of a toy, but is not at all obnoxious sounding. If you are looking for a fun, classic toy, I highly recommend this piano.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2011We got this for my one-year-old son, and he loves it. He was fascinated with anything musical, so we figured this was the perfect Christmas present. Fortunately he doesn't bang on it constantly, but several times a day he will go over to his little piano and "play" it for a minute or two. I can also use it to distract him from other things - taking away a toy, an owie, whatever. Very effective!
The product itself is fine, very durable, plays well, etc. But what really ticks me off is that the photo for this product as displayed here has clearly been photoshopped. I was really glad that I read other reviews before buying it because I knew to expect bolts that weren't showing in the photo. In fact there are three big silver bolts on each side of the piano. It's not a big deal, but I don't like it when product photos lie.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2020I bought this for my grandson’s 1st birthday. Prior he would sit on my daughters lap at a real piano and have fun banging away at the keys, so we wanted to get him a beginner piano of his own. I understood up front that this 1st piano had a toyish sound to it, which was fine. Hey, I don’t expect him to be a Billy Joel piano man just yet 😁 I am more interested in seeing him having fun and maybe gain interest as he grows. Well I wish I took a picture of his face after he started banging away at it while still in the box. He is a happy baby as it is, but his smile was twice as big as normal. It is made well, quite sturdy, and I believe will serve the purpose. Well worth the extra $$ versus a plastic toy piano.
UPDATE: Finally taking it out of the box after his birthday, we found a bad crack in the back. But seeing how much he enjoyed it, we will simply seek a replacement. This by no means detracts from our satisfaction.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2020I bought this piano for my son as a Christmas present because I had a wooden piano as a baby. He is not at all interested in the plastic toy piano I bought him earlier, but he loves this one! The product is well made. It's very sturdy and has decent weight, so it does not fall over easily. The only minor complaint I have is that the keys sometimes won't go down smoothly. But overall, this is great. I think it is going to last for quite some years.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2021Got this toy piano for my son for his first Christmas and 5 months later, it is holding up surprisingly well. He loves to bang on the keys and improvise experimental avant-garde. He also enjoy climbing on top of the piano and drooling all over the keys as a part of his performance art. The piano has quite a charming and pleasant sound, even when keys are being smashed by a baby in random dissonance. I'm so glad I didn't get him a corny electric piano, or a fisher price "musical" noise maker.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2014I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting from a toy piano (or how much I should have expected), but I am a little disappointed by this. The best thing about it is how great it looks -- it is a very nice, shiny red. The list of things I don't like about this is fairly long:
- I was surprised by how much it smelled when removing it from the package (from the paint/finish) -- I would not have expected a kid's toy to smell this much. Of course this will go away eventually but it was extremely strong initially.
- Some of the keys stick to each other, resulting in the wrong note or double notes getting played.
- It is not easy to quickly hit repeat notes. There is no spring or other mechanism to get the hammer to return back to the neutral position.
- The hammer mechanism is wobbly and seems very poorly designed/manufactured. These are plastic and I expect some of these to fail at some point.
- It is really loud
I am sure my son will love this, but it is a bit annoying and frustrating for me to use to play when we are singing to him (even the ABC song is difficult to play due to the shortcomings I mention above)

5.0 out of 5 stars Very pleased with this little Piano
This little piano is very sturdy! Our 1 year old granddaughter loves it. She plays it with her hands, toes, knees, elbows, bum.....she has yet to tip it over. I am very impressed with the quality of it and with the sound. (The "bell" sound is perfect for this type of toy and for the learning that our granddaughter will do.) The piano was shipped immediately upon ordering it and arrived in excellent condition.

Very impressed with the unit ... our grandson just under one is in "music" classes which primarily have percussion and rattling aspects ... I suspect that he will very much love pounding on this unit!

1.0 out of 5 stars Defected Keynotes.
I have to hit hard to hear the sound of the first two keynotes. I bought this piano for my grandchild 3 years old and I have to return it, what a frustration !
