On the bright side, it arrived next day. In addition, it was easy to understand how to use it and the tool itself is very sturdy. Not super heavy, but I think it would survive some serious pressure before breaking.
The down side, I needed to punch 38 of those little plaques. I punched a total of 40 holes with the two practice punches on a spare plaque. On punch number 38, the keyed portion of the pin snapped off of my 7/32" pin.
Bright side, I could still press the cutting end through the last two. It required me to push the pin back up manually, but it worked.
Overall, it's WELL worth the money paid as long as I can find replacement punches. Which I imagine I should be able to? My only other note is that the screw that sets he depth can come loose. But check every 20 punches and you should be fine. Also, bring your own screwdriver. The tool in the kit bends easily and doesn't tighten the depth gauge screw enough. It works just fine with the die insert, though that can be inserted by hand.
Some instruction on how far to screw in that insert would be nice. I noticed that half a rotation made the difference between cutting and just bending the metal. It also impacted how hard it was to pull the handle

I purchased the tool with the intention of punching holes into an Altoid-like box's tin lid.
I did have a problem at first where the tool damaged the sheet of tin that I was punching. One problem was caused by the fact that the throat depth of the tool was just barely wide enough to fit over the lip of the tin's lid and would scratch the paint if I wasn't really careful when I inserted the tool over the lid. I also found that I needed to extend the the tip of the lower die (the one with the hole) above the surface of the tool so that it did not mangle the surface of the metal that I was punching. This meant that I had to unscrew and rescrew the bottom die for every tin that I punched to get the tool onto the lid and off of the lid. Once I did that I managed to get some fairly clean holes.
You can see the "practice" tin with the dented holes in the photo along with the "carefully manipulated" tin with the cleaner holes.

Pros:
Versatile Precision: Whether I'm working with wood or metal, this automatic center punch performs like a champ. It delivers precise, well-defined marks every time, making it an invaluable tool for creating accurate drill starting points, indents, or even decorative designs. The versatility is a huge plus for someone who dabbles in both woodworking and metalworking.
Solid Construction: The tool's build quality is commendable. It feels sturdy and durable in hand, providing confidence that it will withstand the test of time and numerous projects. The comfortable grip also makes it easy to handle for extended periods.
Ease of Retriggering: As mentioned, there are occasional instances where the punch gets stuck, but the retriggering process is straightforward and doesn't disrupt workflow significantly. It's a minor inconvenience considering the tool's overall performance.
Cons:
Intermittent Sticking: The only notable drawback is the occasional sticking issue. While it doesn't happen frequently, it can be slightly frustrating when it does. Thankfully, retriggering the punch is an easy fix, so it doesn't impede productivity to a significant degree.
In summary, the automatic center punch has proven to be an excellent addition to my workshop. Its precise performance in both woodworking and metalworking tasks is a testament to its versatility and quality. While the intermittent sticking issue can be a minor annoyance, it's outweighed by the tool's overall reliability and solid construction. If you're in search of a dependable center punch that can handle a variety of materials and projects, this tool is well worth the investment. It's a trusty companion for precision work, making your projects more efficient and accurate.
