    I used this product for 8 months in the ED and it has prevented me from losing my scissors until I sacrificed them for the sake of a highly infectious patient and was unable to recover my scissors from the room before end of shift (who knows where they are now). I am definitely going to buy this again as it was very useful and saved me from buying countless numbers of trauma shear replacements. The square shape is distinctive enough to where everyone knows those scissors are mine for the most part and won't try to steal them. I almost always got my shears back when lending to people and I was always able to find them. You can bejewel or otherwise individualize the leash very easily. If you have expensive scissors that you won't let anyone else borrow for any reason, these will give you peace of mind. The only catch is you have to somehow fit your scissors into the metallic ring or find some other creative solution. Thankfully my cheap $12 amazon scissors fit into the ring just fine.

    X-Shears are my primary and favorite trauma shears, unfortunately like most trauma shears, they are all too easy to lose. Almost without exception, I have NAR scissors Leash attached to all of them. This not only prevents loss but more importantly keeps your gunkey shears (they are trauma shears) out of your scissors' pouch/pocket... until they can be decontaminated.
    BTW, I remove the split ring that comes with the NAR retractor, because trying to put it on the bigger handle of X-Shears just springs the split ring and buggers up your handle for your trouble. I put a loop of 550 cord through the retractor loop and through the bigger scissors loop. Smaller for clipping the leash to a belt loop adjacent to my right rear pocket, shears inverted behind my wallet or clipped to the top of my scrub pants, perhaps longer when attached to kits. X-Shears are too pricey (though IMHO absolutely worth it) to lose.

    This is a great product. The clip is easy enough that it never takes too much fumbling if I have to actually unclip it to use my scissors - and the leash itself is long enough that I often don't have to. I was able to attach my scissors and a pair of kelly clamps to the ring on the leash and it is a saving grace when I am moving a ton and all that would be keeping my scissors on me is a loop on my scrubs. No more clamping my kelly's to my shirts, either! Worth the expense if you care about keeping your scissors.
