As described, it was nice to have the punisher and wolverine story's in one book instead of loose single comics. The was also the only collection I could find that contained revelation story arc which I have wanted to read for years

    Great compilation of stories!

The combination of these two anti-heroes sounds like an instant hit. Unfortunately, in collected form you see how many of the stories were just as much a miss as the hits. Their first outing is here with the heroes meeting and fighting before eventually teaming up to slaughter the bad guys. And then every story after that is pretty much the same. There is even a story from when Punisher was the supernatural angel who couldn't be killed (thankfully Marvel came to its senses and got out of that).

The stories are fairly similar in overall concept, hyper-violent in places, and underwhelming all around. If you are a real fan of either, you'll probably buy this, read it once, and pass it on.

Pretty decent stories. The art was as varied as the tone of their interactions.
Otherwise, great stuff to read. Exclusion!

This is not just Jim Lee's work there are some more compilations stories from other artist and writers. I was hoping for something more memorable, some collectors will like the stories but for me the art is not that great.

Punisher / Wolverine African Saga - Carl Potts & Jim Lee - 5 Stars
I'm giving this one five stars just for the early Jim Lee art alone. Punisher and Wolvie cross paths for the first time in the Congo when they are both on the hunt for poachers. Logan mistakes Frank for a poacher and they fight. I found it interesting that they don't even catch each other's names or even realize they are on the same side.

Wolverine / Punisher: Damaging Evidence - Carl Potts & Gary Erskine - 2 Stars
Gary Erskine makes Wolverine look like a homeless Ron Jeremy dressed as Wolverine for Halloween. The art is terrible. Everyone has scrunched up faces like they are changing a poopy diaper.

A fake cyborg Punisher is running around killing people and blaming Frank. Frank thinks he's blacking out and killing people for some reason. Wolverine gets involved because Kingpin used Reaver tech to create the cyborg Punisher. The plot is overly complicated and Wolverine and Punisher don't actually cross paths until the very end.

Punisher War Journal #19 - Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning & Hugh Haynes - 2 Stars
This was so unmemorable I'd forgotten what happened by the end of the book and had to look it back up. The Punisher and Wolverine blow up an oil rig full of bad guys.

Wolverine / Punisher: Revelation - Tom Sniegoski, Christopher Golden & Pat Lee - 0 Stars
I'm surprised this even made it into the collection. This is from the era of the Punisher Marvel would like to forget (so would everyone else). In the first Marvel Knights Punisher book, the Punisher kills himself and is brought back to life by his guardian angel and given angelic powers, like being able to pull sci-fi guns out from under your coat and supernatural healing powers. I feel dumber even having written that. In this series, a Morlock has been unearthed which has a death aura. She's walking around the subway tracks making everyone on the surface keel over. Wolvie and the Punisher cross paths and team up. The story in incomprehensibly bad. At one point the Punisher takes an i-beam through the chest and is fine once someone pulls it out. I mean, we're talking a foot wide hole in the chest. The angels and Morlocks are both in these weird carapaces. It looks like a Japanese anime gone wrong.

    Punisher #16-17 - Garth Ennis & Darick Robertson - 5 Stars
This is the story I think of when it comes to Wolverine vs. the Punisher so I'm glad to see it included. Ennis makes Wolverine look like a chump in a lot of it but it's so funny I'm OK with it. Lines like "Come git yer kicks on route Snikty-Snikt" are hilarious. Darick Robertson draws some incredible fight scenes that just make you laugh. Is there anything better than ultra-violent, Grade-A slobberknockers with a gang of little people?

    Wolverine #186 - Frank Tieri & Terry Dodson - 4 Stars
Wolverine gets payback for getting steamrolled by the Punisher the last time they met. I love how Wolvie leaves the Punisher at the end of this book after finding his "suspects".

    Wolverine / Punisher - Peter Milligan & Lee Weeks - 2 Stars
Milligan again shows why he's a crap writer. The book is filled with plot holes and a disjointed story. Deep in the jungle is a mythical city that's the last refuge of those the Punisher hunts, Erewhon, see the writer must be clever that's "nowhere" almost spelled backwords. Our villain Napoleon goes to Erewhon in the first issue. Then we flash forward 10 years where the citizens of erewhon are luring the Punisher to their refuge so they can kill him. It makes no sense. Napoleon only shows up briefly at the end of the story. It's pure drivel.

    Astonishing Tales: Wolverine / Punisher - C.B. Cebulski & Kenneth Rocafort - 3 Stars
It's difficult to write a winning comic story in 4 page chunks. The Punisher and Wolverine team up in Madripoor to fight Viper and the Facility. Kenneth Rocafort's art isn't his best work. It's muddies by the amount of objects on the page, the topsy-turny panel layout and the muted coloring. I found it difficult to pick out individual elements on the page and follow the story.
