Stutter: A Dark Billionaire Romance Kindle Edition
I can see now that he was right.
I’m trapped in a black hole of darkness I can’t seem to crawl out of, pregnant with a baby I don’t know how to protect.
Ryland says he will do anything to get me back, but how do you trust the man who almost killed you? When every option before you comes at a cost, how do you choose the right path?
People say history has a way of repeating itself. Six years after the fact, my father’s choices still haunt me.
When I learn about an old debt yet to be settled, every breath brings me one step closer to the end of this twisted game.
Stutter is book two of the Bleeding Hearts duet. This series should be read in order.

Stutter beings right where book one left off. The continuity of the story is perfect and the depths the author goes to is mind-blowing.
One of the things I really enjoyed was how the author wrote Ryland in this book. Ryland doesn’t just tell a story. He has a conversation with the reader. Brilliant play on the author’s part. To see a character whose strength, deceit, and revenge-filled life crumble before his eyes was not something I expected. The emotions of this character are a brilliant mixture of grief, devastation, humor and heartbreak.
“Even when she was on her knees- filled with my darkness- she was still shining bright. My Siren’s song, my exposed nerve. She lured me in and made me feel. And then she left me to perish.”
The emotional journey of Brighton is intense. Her confusion and unwillingness to allow herself to feel, and her conflict play out beautifully. You can’t help but wish the that this character can hear the thoughts running through your mind. For Brighton, I just wanted peace. Peace in every aspect of her being.
“She made the beast rear its ugly head. Stirred fantasies in my mind I would have never otherwise entertained. Owning her wasn’t enough. Controlling her didn’t douse the inferno blazing inside me.”
Once again friends and family play a huge part in bringing this story full circle. The author shares their fall from grace. Allows them to expose their dirty secrets and slowly rebuilds them into characters that warmed my heart. Also brought to light, are the devious and dangerous way lives were lived. This in turn exposes how decisions were made. It’s those decisions that bring evil, death and destruction into the story.
As in the first book the story is laced with heated passion, truths, lies, murder and the repercussions of the character’s actions. The fall from grace, the internal struggle, the justification of right and wrong. The intense, burning, and darkness that surrounds the passion of the characters is again off the charts in Stutter.
I enjoyed this book, and this series. The storyline contained so many twists and turns. So many moments that had me gasping in disbelief. Heartbreak so painful it bled into my blood stream. Sex so devious, dirty and dark it seemed that I was bending to will of the characters. Mystery so twisted and tangled it was impossible to figure out. Stutter is a very well thought out, fast paced, intense, sizzling, surprising story. One I think is worth reading.
I had a few issues that turned this book from a 5 star into a 4 star.
May contain a few *SPOILERS* but I'll try not to reveal too much.
I preferred the Ryland from book 1.
It's nice to see a H go a little soft for his h, but he was a completely different guy. We didn't get the kinky 'monster' in this book and I really missed that. Instead Brighton pretty much dominated the bedroom (even ordering him to put his hands above his head) and he let her. I kept waiting for him to take back control, but he never did. So for me, the sex fell a little short. We kept hearing about what 'would' be happening, but never shown. With the exception of the oral scene after the charity ball, It was all just a bit too sweet.
Also, Brighton kept taking stupid advice from Nicole and it pretty much backfired every time. It was meant to come across as naive, but instead she came across as stupid.
Also, wtf was up with her constantly trusting her brother. To run off and meet him ALONE and PREGNANT when your husband is missing after everything he put her through?? She fell deeper into the 'stupid hole' at that point.
Overall, I really liked her. After they come back together (which seemed to drag out a little too long) she sticks by him. I find it so refreshing when a heroine does this. It's been awhile since I've found a 'non-runner' and I need more of them.
Also, there seemed to be missing information towards the end. It almost felt like the author get a bit lazy and just wanted to wrap it up.
Ryland is in the hospital on life support and suddenly she goes into labor.
BAM. The End.
In the epilogue we discover he 'somehow' came out of his coma due to 'something' -we aren't given any information- Was she there when he came out? How long was he in the freakin' coma? What did he feel when he came out and found he'd missed the birth? At least, I assumed he missed it coz we're never told anything. And if so, how old was the baby when he saw him? How did he FEEL when he saw him? We don't know!!
Really? That should have been important but it was tossed away like "Meh, that's not necessary" when it totally was. We don't even get any information on the birth of her son.
As a matter of fact, when we first read about him, he's running up to them talking in clear sentences after being at the zoo with Nicole. So maybe this epilogue is 3 or 4 years later?
Again, we aren't told. Major gaps in the story.
I would definitely recommend this book. It made me smile, the drama was light and the characters were likable. I will definitely read more books from this author.

Brighton wasn’t the girl Ryland thought she was. Oh no, she was so much more than that. She was fated to meet Ryland, she alone has the power to bring this powerful man to his knees, and let me tell you, she’s not afraid to use it!
He left her with no choice but to say goodbye to him at the end of Echo. We all know by now the reason she’s found that strength. She’s had enough; she wants nothing to do with Ryland or her twin. They both betrayed her and left her in a mess. Brighton’s had enough. It’s time for her to stand on her own two feet, take life by the horns and kick it in the bollox.
But with Ryland’s dogged persistence she should’ve known that she’d get nothing passed him. In a cruel twist of fate, poor Brighton has to give in to his demands once again. Only this time, she’s not the shy and innocent Virgin, who needs his help to exonerate her brother – this time Brighton holds all of the cards. Ryland’s in love with Brighton; he dreams of having her again. He craves her more that he craved revenge…
Unlike most female leads, Brighton isn’t the scared little girl lost. She’s consistently the same through both books, which is a major turn-on for me. She’s still affected by Ryland and everything he offers, but now she has so much to lose. Can Ryland win back the only person to have touched his heart – or will he be in emotional limbo forever?
This book was very well written and presented. The author’s passion for her characters shines through in every line. The dialogue was quick and on point, and I loved the way the book was written from both Ryland’s and Brighton’s POV. I got a good grasp of what Ryland was all about and could easily distinguish who was talking without ever having to check.
This book was simply amazing, it was a hell of a ride, and I loved every single second of it.
Way to go, Ms. Zavarelli. You wrote a book that both destroyed and inspired me all at once!
I loved this duet. Did prefer book 1 over book 2, but as a whole was a very enjoyable read that I had a difficult time putting down.
There were plenty of feelings, some angst and heartbreak, danger, betrayal, and some good steamy scenes.
If you want something a little different, something that grabs you and keeps you turning the pages, I would definitely recommend this one.
