230-Thread-Count Shell

Thread count refers to the number of threads that make up one square inch of fabric. High thread counts have a reputation of being the best quality, but there are distinct benefits to all the various thread-count options along the spectrum, which ranges from 150 to the 1000s.

More crisp and clean than silky soft, bedding with a thread count of 150-399 are appreciated for their breathability and durability—and for pleasant softness - despite being on the lower end of the scale.

Great Value Body Pillow, Nearly 10 Inches in Width!

Great Value Body Pillow, Nearly 10 Inches in Width!
This pillow arrived in rather a large box (not nearly large enough to be a pillow) and viola, it was compressed in a vacuum sealed case. Once I cut the corners and opened it up, the pillow expanded immediately, reaching a with of easily 8 inches. This pillow is thick, boulder-like, and fluffy. It's also on the stiffer side of fluffy, when I lie on top of it (120 lb), it still doesn't go flat! This pillow is great for bad backs and during pregnancy. There are two minor problems I have with this pillow. First, because the overall pillow is so large and cumbersome and is most comfortable and useful being hugged with your whole body, it's really only useful while sleeping on one side, this pillow can't easily be switched around when tossing or changing sides. You would have to pull the pillow out of the sheets, and insert it back on the other side. That makes it useful maybe while falling asleep, but often you wake with a huge mess of blankets (being shifted about) or without it really having been used. It is also very hard to use this for decoration purposes. When you place it on your bed, it takes up precious head space, shrinking your useable bed by nearly 9 inches. I have a California King as my husband is 6'1, with two sets of pillows, his foot just touches the edge of the bed, with this addition, his foot is off the bed. I have to remove this pillow every night which is a little extra work, and often it stays on the ottoman rather than the bed.The pillow overall is good quality, the cover is a nice bonus, they usually cost $20-40 alone. The white color does leave something wanting, it looks rather bland and naked and for added decoration, I'll need to purchase another cover. I also don't like that the tag is on the outside of the pillow cover, that just makes it ugly and needs constant tucking in. I hope they make the cover in a few colors and patterns soon, there's a huge lack of nice body pillow overs at a decent price on Amazon. This is a great body pillow if you need one for a bad back or pregnancy. If you need one to stop you rolling onto your front, you might be better off with a regular pillow. I kept the pillow even though I personally don't use it much for future guests who may need it and as decoration in a guest bedroom. As a body pillow with a nice cover and a lot of width, this is great value.

So I am ultra picky about body pillows. I have severe back issues and I am a side sleeper. Oh and I am fluffy (very fluffy!) so this is kinda painful to do online in a way - because I have no idea what I am going to be getting. I looked and looked and AGONIZED over making a decision (my old body pillow is a body pancake). For reference I am 5ft 6 and the pillow is about 5 feet long (so I wasn't being suffocated, which is good because I like to breath!)

Arrived with good speed, frustration free packaging, folded in half. The body pillow does not come in the case - you have to put it on. The easiest way I found was pretend the body pillow is your leg and the cover are pantyhose and roll it up and release little bits of material as you go up. The quality of the pillow is actually really nice. The material is thick, well stitched, the filling is fairly even in it as well (despite being folded in half). The case is "ok* and I really cant say more then that. It reminds me of motel sheets honestly. I chose to use a different case (as seen in the pictures)

Ok so the first night was a little difficult to get used to because its super thick and wide and fluffy (like me!) but I made it through finally. Then again, every body pillow I get takes some getting used to honestly. The second night was better as I realized for as firm and fluffy as it is, its quite mold-able into many positions (*get your mind outta the gutter*) I did put a cover on there because frankly white gets dirty too quick. And the Pinzon tag is annoying ( I finally cut the tag off ). Oh and after a single night the cover was starting to create pills or piles or whatever they're called. Ya know the little material balls (*again get your mind out of the gutter!*)

Because of the overall heft of the pillow it was a little tricky getting it into the new pillow case, but I was able to do so. I would highly strongly suggest getting a double zipper style and/or a higher quality cover (if you choose to) and rolling the pillow case up and rolling it up the body pillow else its a terror to get in.

So I attached some pictures. The grey tote in the background is the standard tote you get at WalMart for like 5 bucks or whatever and used as a reference height at its full fluff level. The Other pictures are showing you how nice the stitching is the the material itself. I will update again in a few months with an update as to how fluffy has held up against my fluffy self. I'm so glad I bought this, here's why:

It's fluffy, the right size (kept my long, large legs/feet separated from one another) and COMES WITH A COTTON CASE!

My girlfriend didn't report any problems with it in our bed and we have a queen. Admittedly I was straddling it pretty closely while on my side, so the pillow and I sort of "became one."

It seems to hold a bit of heat, but that's underneath all the covers. I don't know how it will perform during the warmer months when I'm not covered by a blanket and a down comforter.

I think it's better than the Embrace memory foam body pillow, which I actually also bought (and returned). That thing is a *huge* and heavy! This Pinzon one, by contrast, feels substantial but really is like a pillow and not a small mattress. Moreover, I'm glad this Pinzon pillow is washable (the whole thing), but I'm especially glad that it comes with a case. A standard cotton body pillowcase is like $20 on Amazon, so you would have to add that to the cost of the memory foam body pillow if you wanted to protect it and have something easy to remove and wash.

A little more detail if you want it: I have a lot of leg/foot pain, and I used to put a regular pillow between my knees at night and sleep on my side. It wasn't working since my ankles/feet would touch and still hurt. I wanted something to separate my legs *entirely*. Now, I'm 6' tall and 205lbs and I can report that this body pillow didn't collapse under the weight of my admittedly pretty big legs -- it kept my legs nicely separated so they didn't touch or rub together (ankle on ankle is painful for me, as is knee on knee etc.). If you like to sleep on your side with your *whole legs* separated by a nice cushiony cloud, buy this -- it's a great value.
