Can a patient love win her heart?

As Isabelle Atwood’s romance prospects are turning in her favor, a family scandal derails her dreams. While making a quilt for her own hope chest, Isabelle’s half-sister becomes pregnant out of wedlock and Isabelle--always the unfavored daughter--becomes the family sacrifice to save face. Despite gaining the attention of a handsome rancher, her parents are pressuring her to marry a man of their choosing to rescue her sister’s reputation.

A third suitor waits silently in the wings, hoping for his own chance at love. Isabelle ends up with three marriage proposals, but this only further confuses her decision.A handsome rancher, a stranger, and an unseen suitor are all waiting for an answer. Isabelle loves her sister, but will she really allow herself to be manipulated into a marriage without love? Will Isabelle capitulate and marry the man her parents wish her to, or will she rebel and marry the man they don’t approve of? Or will the man leaving her secret love poems sweep her off her feet?

It kept my attention. I read it over 3 days ( One or 2 sentences got me back into the story line each time). The plot is believable back when it was common for arranged marriages. Yes, the stepmother is a forceful challenge! Cheered Isabell & Adelaide on. You might figure the ending out before you complete the book. I encourage you to stay the course. I look forward to reading more books by this author🤗

A Daughter’s Predicament is book two in the Quilting Circle series. I haven’t read book one, but this story is still engaging as a standalone. This storyline could only work in previous centuries. The author did a good job of making it believable. Every new twist and illogical choice Isabelle made had me turning the page to see where that would take her. I disliked her stepmother so much. But if Margarite wasn’t trying to reach a higher position in society through Isabelle’s half-sister then the whole absurd solution to cover up the unwed younger sister’s pregnancy would have never worked. I enjoyed the way the scheme completely unraveled and the sisters both got their happily-ever-afters.

This second book in the Quilting Circle series is an excellent follow-up to The Widow's Plight. Ms. Davis gives us a combination of sibling rivalry and a deep love between sisters in A Daughter's Predicament. This book is more romance than suspense, in my opinion, which was somewhat of a disappointment. Much was predictable, as is true in all light romances, yet I continued reading as I waited for true love to assert itself. In addition to this delightful romance, Ms. Davis gives an excellent preview of the next book in the series, The Damsel's Intent.

This is the first book by this author I have read and it absolutely loved both the storyline and her main female character. An older sister forced into a marriage she doesn't want to pass off her unweb sister's baby as her own raises so many good questions on family and faith, and what we will do for our loved ones. The gentle issue of faith was gently woven into the tale which has several characters that you will relate to. I loved Isabella and was so happy that the surprise ending was one full of joy. This story could take place in almost any time period but the 1800 Washington setting was perfect.

Generally don't read a romance straight through as they all seem to be the same in many ways. This was a delight to read, gave a sense of the times, and the conflict between those who wanted love, and those more concerned with reputation. Highly recommend!

The story line was convoluted but I enjoyed reading it. So glad to see things worked out for both sisters

This book is deserving of a five-Star rating because I was not able to put it down. Mary Davis, author, has written a good clean book. This book is the kind I would have no reservations recommending to friends and family alike. The story and characters are memorable and I would read this book again.
