Tie Died (Brianne James Mysteries Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 7 ratings

When 18-year-old Brianne James discovers a murdered young girl at Montgomery Park – a 15-year-old who has been left for dead in the icy snow – there is only one thing she can do: search for the killer.

Brianne has a nose for sleuthing. She can connect with people; even scary people. She has the smarts to solve even the most underhanded crime, and she can solve it with or without the help of the police or her parents.

When it comes to Conner Ryan, however, his unrelenting assistance is quite another story. When you’re in love with one of the hottest guys in school – who in the heck cares?

Kathryn is a lover of words and a bearer of mood swings. When she is feeling the need to inspire, she writes a Christian fiction book. If a mystery is waiting to be uncovered, she finds it. If something otherworldly is finding its way through her fingertips, she travels to it.

Kathryn has been a reader since she was a young child. Although she took classes in writing as a teen, it wasn’t something she really thought would become her career until she was married. And even then, it took a few more years for something worthy enough to publish to manifest itself.

Kathryn’s first book was published in 2002. Since then, many other books have found their way out of her head depending on the sort of day she is having. Kathryn is a journalist, a teacher, a mentor, an editor, a publisher, and a marketer.

Her greatest joy, other than writing her next book, is meeting with readers and authors who enjoy the craft of writing as much as she does.

5 Stars. I really enjoyed this book. It kept me guessing all the way through. There was a few editing issues but nothing so bad to detract from my enjoyment of this mystery.

Tie Died by Kathryn Elizabeth Jones is a story about a teenage girl that enjoys sleuthing. When she comes across the body of a girl in a park, she is determined to figure out what happened.

While this book was a miss for me, the overall storyline did spook me a bit! I would definitely recommend this book to pre-teens that enjoy mysteries!

Full disclosure: I was given a free copy of this audiobook by the author in exchange for an honest review. This did not affect my rating in any way.

Brianne James likes to run in the mornings before school and before the world gets busy. But on this particular morning her run is cut short when she comes upon the body of another teen who had been out running and was now dead-laying in the Utah winter snow. Brianne's mother and father are detectives, and Brianne also has the knack for detection. After calling the police she photographs and notices everything about the scene around her. Footprints, tire tracks, the victim, every detail she can. Brianne talks to her parents about the scene and the girl and tells them she is going to investigate. She wants to solve this bizarre murder. As the time goes by, she begins skipping out of classes to sleuth, and eventually her lab partner from biology makes his feelings known and they begin to date. Connor is dreamy and everything a girl could want in a boyfriend. It isn't until her brother and a freaky classmate repeatedly warn her about Conner that she becomes concerned.

As the days turn into weeks and months, Brianne, along with Conner's help, continues to investigate and comes up with some pretty important clues. It isn't until she starts to really listen to others that she changes her methods and sleuths alone that things get creepy. When she figures out what the murder weapon has to be, things seem to race to a conclusion that includes a lot of scary events and people she thought she could trust.

This was a good mystery and interesting characters that the author brought to life. The story flowed well and the stunning conclusion surprised me. Although this wouldn't be considered a kind of story I would normally read, I certainly was fascinated and couldn't put the book down until I had finished it. Well written and thought provoking, it will stay with you long after you have finished reading.

Tie Died by Kathryn E Jones is a Young Adult mystery, detective, and contemporary novels all in one. I like the telling and the tale which has some really nice twists. The story starts at the right spot with a body when high school senior, Brianne James, is running at a park and finds a dead girl from her high school. Now both of Branne's parents are in law enforcement, and both encourage her to follow her own clues. All becomes bizarre when the clues point to too many places and most of them are close to Brianne's heart.
The tale is quite interesting, the characters lovable and suspicious, and all grown-ups predictable. In all, Tie Died by Kathryn E Jones has all the elements to make it a favorite for many readers who like murder mystery, young adult, clean books and surprising endings. I recommend Tie Died by Kathryn E Jones to all audiences. It will be a great addition for any school or home library.

A dead body in the snow—frozen in a tie dyed sweatshirt.

Instead of being scared at the sight, 18-year old Brianne James was curious. What had happened to this girl? Why is she dead? And could it have been a murder?

For starting off fresh in a new town, this case would seem like the perfect distraction for Brianne, who was your average teen with an inquisitive mind and flippant attitude.

Told in the voice of the main character, story almost reads like a diary with its quick repartee and wandering teenage notions. At times, it feels like she’s rambling, running aimlessly from one idea to the next. But, of course, that mostly pertained when she was talking about school, teachers, and homework. She definitely has more pizzazz when she’s working on the case, which she asks a lot of questions on. If only school wouldn’t get in the way.

Basically half the story dealt with high school life and the other half dealt with the mystery of the dead girl. The writing was okay with some lag here and there.

Overall, this was an okay mystery with a savvy, little detective.
