A Knight With Grace: Book 1 of the Assassin Knights Series Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 334 ratings

She prays for a knight. He searches for forgiveness. Can he find redemption in her arms?

Lady Grace Willoughby defies her father’s orders to marry Sir William de Tracy and escapes with a friend. She has no intention of wedding a cursed man, a man ostracized from the church, a man who would only doom any future children they might have to the fires of Hell. She prays for a knight to rescue her.

Excommunicated and outcast for a horrible crime in his past, Sir William de Tracy searches for forgiveness. Marriage has never crossed his mind until Lord Willoughby commissions him to retrieve his fleeing daughter and honor the dying wish of his father by marrying Grace.

But things are not as they seem. And when an assassin tries to kill Grace, William must choose between his soul and the woman he has come to love. Can William and Grace overcome their past and find the redemption and love both are so desperately seeking?

I have read many books about Knights and Lords but this book made me understand how a Knight’s vow is as important as his life. The story captured the very thoughts and feelings of people of long ago who would have to suffer because of being excommunicated, thinking that their works will save them from eternal condemnation. Happy how the story relates how Christians lived their lives long ago. The love story is really a love story, defying logic and reason, not caring what a person is, and loving the person for who he is - as a human being needed to be loved.

I could read this over and over again!

A nice read and I enjoyed the book. I figured out the antagonist's secret right at the beginning of the story, and by the end, his reaction seemed a bit over the top to me. It did contribute the the sense of danger however. I also appreciated the restraint and development of romantic tension without dropping into a sex scene. It left more time to develop the characters and seemed more in keeping with the era.
Looking forward to exploring more of the author's work.

Your characters act and converse as if they are real. I especially like the conversations that they have. You don’t spend pages telling about their thoughts.
Some authors tell the reader what the character is thinking then repeatedly brings their characters mistaken thoughts up again. You didn’t spend page after page with Grace’s mistaken belief that William loved another. You introduced the possibility to Grace but she got passed that misunderstanding quickly so the story could move on. I love your smart strong females and the witty conversations they have in your books.

This medieval love story between William and Grace, betrothed by their fathers in childhood, was full of naïveté and a bit far fetched for me

A knight with a guilty conscience, excommunicated from the church, and a deep seated loneliness, finally finds peace. The event in this book was in another medieval writer's book, Kathryn Le Veque my favorite author.

I enjoyed this story so much enriched me with over-whelming faith in my God! How we make assumptions about people without really knowing them or their situations.
