Amy knows hockey! Anyone from Wisconsin, Michigan, or Minnesota can recognize a true fan. Aside from knowing hockey and writing intelligently about it, Amy is a master at describing and showing that how your parents raise you (or don’t) can make or break you. Luckily, Haven survived more trauma than anyone should have to bear, and Jack, sent to live with another family at fifteen, suffered from being separated from his family at such a young age and felt estranged from his brothers. The events that brought these two suffering hearts together was well told and psychologically intriguing. Never having suffered anything like this, it was a true education about the human spirit and its resiliency. Having lived in Madison, a true hockey town, the Wisconsin Badgers taught me to love fast-paced, intelligent hockey. This book was full of great hockey and the nervous buzz it created in me while reading brought me back to UW. This is a beautifully written book that sparked my interest and satisfied my need to read good literature. Can’t beat those Nolan brothers! Read it, you won’t regret it!

I really enjoyed the first two books in this series but I found this one didn't move along as quickly as I usually enjoy. I found my mind wandering and I put the book down a few times because it was slow moving, maybe too much inner dialogue early on. It did get better and I'm glad I persevered but it was really only because I own the next two books in the series already and didn't want to miss any details.
