Great Phone System, this model out does the others by far. Long-lasting and great features.

Great Phone System, this model out does the others by far. Long-lasting and great features.
This is my second Panasonic Phone set. Both basically the same. My first set which was just like this lasted for about 3-4 years. My second set is replacing the first set as about half of the handsets started having issues, such as when answering the phone the other person on the line couldn't hear me, etc. No charging issues. There were a lot of things I liked about the Panasonic Set and after doing careful research I decided to buy the set again. The pros outweighed the cons in my book. This is one of those purchases you want to buy (not have to return) and be satisfied with from the get go. Though Panasonic has the same set in three different models. My first set was probably the "Good" model and this time I bought the "Best" model (this one). There are slight variations in the handsets but in general it is all the same. Definitely this model is the way to go over the others. The price difference is so minor, but the value in the better system far exceeds the price difference. What I love about the Panasonic handset is that you don't have to be near a phone to know who is calling. For instance, say you're in the kitchen, you're cooking and can't stop what you're doing to see who is calling, you don't have to as the handset will tell you who it is. And, nine out of 10 times I don't want to take the call. Also, for some reason in my household even though there are 5 handsets, no one can ever seem to find one. You use the phone, put it down and then someone calls and suddenly you are looking for a phone. Well, since the phone tells you who is calling and you can hear where it is coming from it is easy to find a phone if you need to. I have to admit sometimes it is funny to see how the handset pronounces the Caller ID. You get some pretty good laughs. It is entertainment all on its own. Never had an issue with the batteries, nor the handset not being clear. I always use the speaker which the receiving and sending sound is clear. The phone system is easy to set-up. I am an average person and the phone system was up and operational within minutes. First use after getting the handsets in place they have to charge for 12 hours. After that, you are ready to go. This is coming from someone that has own many phone systems. ATT, VTech, Radio Shack, and other brands. My first set of this type of model was the first time I purchased anything Panasonic. And this second set is the first-time I ever repurchase the same phone set. This phone system has lasted the longest. I can, but I don't connect my cell phone to the phone system. It is just my preference not too, but you can do it. I usually do everything from a handset and not the base unit. In fact, in the four years of my first set I think I checked messages maybe once or twice from the base unit. You can do everything you want to do from the handset (any one of the handsets) so it makes it very convenient. Now you can mute a handset if you want from calling out a Caller ID. This is a down side for me on this phone system as if you have guests and the phone rings your handset is going to say who it is. That could be annoying or considered an interruption. So, just before I mute all the handsets prior. As with a different phone system someone calls, the machine gets it you check it later or glance at the handset. This phone system is vocal, which is great 99% of the time. It is just that 1% and still it wasn't a big enough deterrent to get me to purchase a different brand. The other issue I have with the phone system is no longer an issue with the new system. I LOVE IT. The old system had a little light (see pictures). It would flicker and have a range similar to a night light. If you have a message and nowadays most my messages are from telemarketers. The handset will flash periodically. Well, not a big deal unless you are in your bedroom sleeping and you have this flashing orange tinted light blinking periodically. It was like a beacon. Of course, if you wanted to move around the house at night, ALL the handsets could light your way as they all blink when there are messages. BUT, NO MORE. This models does not do that which might make it harder to find a phone in the dark, but I will manage.

I originally ordered the Panasonic KX-TGE274S Link2Cell model Panasonic KX-TGE274S Link2Cell Bluetooth Enabled Phone with Answering Machine & 4 Cordless Handsets, and ended up returning it due to connectivity problems with my cell phone. I replaced it with this model, and it has worked perfectly. I've owned it as of this writing for a little over two months. The features of each model seem to be pretty much identical as far as I can tell, but this one (the KX-TG7875S) has five handsets in total instead of four with the TGE274S.

My favorite features of this phone system area as follows:

It beeps when you have a message waiting! I really missed this from an older phone system I had quite a few years back, and very few cordless phone systems offer that anymore. I just don't notice that little flashing red light when I come home, so I need the beep! Note that when you set the system up, the default setting for the audible beep is set to "off," so you'll have to configure it to do this...very easy to do though...look on page 58 of the included manual, "Audible Message Alert."

The batteries for each handset are standard, AAA Ni-MH rechargeable batteries. It does not have those special, taped together, unique battery configurations you find on many phones...these will be easy to replace when the time comes.

You can link to two cell phones via Bluetooth, and the process is simple to do. There is a "Quick Guide" that will walk you through you how to do this...took me less than five minutes. Even if I do decide to give up my land line one day, I can still pipe our cell phones through this system...meaning, no longer being up in the bedroom and missing a call on the cell phone I left in the kitchen.

Not only will your cell phone ring through these cordless phones, but when you get a text message, the handsets give a quick little beep to let you know you've received one...cool!

Besides being able to link two cell phones, you can also link a Bluetooth headset if you so desire...AND you can connect a wired headset as well if you prefer to go that route. Each handset has a headset jack on the side to enable this.

Communication is clear with great sound volume.

You can get some "extras" to go with it if you so choose...namely, a "finder" (called a Key Detector) that entails a little doo-dad you can attach to anything, like keys, and if you lose them, you can utilize the phone to find them. My wife is forever forgetting where she put her purse, so I may have to go for this. You can also get a signal booster to extend the reach from the base unit. However, I live in a large, two-story house with a concrete second floor. I have the base unit in our kitchen and one of the handsets is in the master bedroom at the opposite end of the house, and I've had no issue with the strength of the signal.

It also has all the "standard" features that come with most of these cordless phones...like intercom, call blocking, special ring tones, etc.

Also note that you set everything up through the handset, not through the base, and then all phones are updated. For example, during the initial set-up I entered the date and the time on one handset, and it was instantly communicated to the other three.

The features of this phone system as well as its design are a good example of a company listening to what customers want, and then manufacturing something to tailor to those needs.

If things change as I continue to use this system I will update this review. I do highly recommend this set though...for me, it offers every feature I was looking for, and then some.

I hope this review was helpful...thanks for reading, and if you have any questions feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer!

Color: Black/SilverSize: 5 HandsetsPattern Name: PhoneVerified Purchase
Previous, we’ve owned two sets of wireless Panasonic home phones. The most recent was a forerunner version of the Panasonic Link2Cell Bluetooth phones. Base upon our experience one can expect these phones to last approximately five (2009 to 2015) to eight (2000 to 2008) years. This life expectancy is typically longer than most people keep their cell phone, so when you project the cost out over the years it seems pretty reasonable.

Some issues with the old phone system were: push buttons stopped working, ringers on some of the phones stopped working and the speaker phone on one of the phones stopped working. The old system didn't allow for adding an additional phone, but this system allows for adding an additional telephone. Further, the old phones were quite limited with the number of names and phone numbers that could be stored in them. Though we've only had the new phones for a couple of month, the new system seems to be satisfactory. There are many more features with these phones.

The set up for “programming” or setting up the various features could initially be intimidating but it is really not that difficult. It is based upon entering #, followed by the appropriate code number. All the codes are included in the Operating Instructions. It maybe a little confusing if you've never used such a system, but it is relatively straightforward after going through a couple of entries. Just make sure you hang onto your Operating Instructions.

We have not and do not intend to link this system to our cell phones through a Bluetooth connection. Voice mail is a component of this phone system as well as our cell phones. Missing a call on occasion isn’t a crisis - in fact, sometimes we don’t want to answer either.

      Pros
You may use the prerecorded greeting for voice messages or you can make your own.

I like the voice caller ID, though it does come up with some rather amusing pronunciations.

As with our previous Panasonic systems, the names and phone numbers need only be entered into one handset. Once entered, they will appear in all the handsets.

We like the call “block feature” - it allows you to apply the call block to those repeat offenders you don’t want to hear from. The “missed call” feature captures the phone numbers of all incoming calls. This allows you to pick those numbers you wish to add to the call block. It also allows you to call back those numbers you wish.

A flashing light on the base set provides notification of new messages. I understand that you can have the phone provide beep alerting you for as well. These features can be turned on or off by changing codes. You have the ability to “name” each handset, i.e., study, bdroom, shop, kitchen, etc. and each handset is numbered.

The intercom feature allows you to speak from one handset to another, i.e., from the kitchen to the shop. However, I think the most important function of the intercom is as an aid to find misplaced handsets by calling the missing handset. When the livingroom handset disappears, it’s easier to find it underneath the cushion on the couch using the intercom.

The reception of the wireless units is satisfactory for our purposes. I have one handset in my shop, a metal structure, approximately 103 feet away from the kitchen base unit (yes, maybe a bit anal retentive, but I measured it). I have read reviews to the contrary - all I can say is: mine works fine at that range.

The Panasonic Link2Cell Bluetooth phones can store up to 3,000 names and telephone numbers, which is far more than any of the previous Panasonic phones we’ve owned.

We like the speaker phone feature of these phones.

These phones are also equipped with a noise reduction button on the handset to reduce background noise coming from the other party’s telephone. The handset also has a “handset equalizer” that supposed to help make it easier to understand the person you’re speaking with. I’ve used the noise reduction feature but not the handset equalizer. Does the noise reduction feature work? Probably/maybe. When I used the noise reduction feature, I could hear the person to whom I was speaking - I cannot actually say it made it easier for me to hear them . . . but I could hear them.

This phone system has many features - many more than I’ll ever use . . . but you can if you wish.

      Cons
There are three options to store numbers in the Phonebook: Home, Cell1 and Cell2. This feature is fine for those who wish to pair their cell phones with this system, but we don’t. To expedite finding numbers, we store family members as “Home,” friends and other frequently called numbers are stored in “Cell1,” and businesses are stored in “Cell2. ” I’d prefer to be able to name the categories, but that’s a minor issue.

While there is a flashing light on the base unit to provide notification of new voice messages, the only notification on the handsets is a message that appears on the screen, “New Message Press PLAY.” While this is better than nothing, it could be easily over looked. Previous systems had a flashing light on the handsets as well as the base unit.

The back lighting of the keys could be improved, as they are difficult to see, particularly if you answer a call at night in the dark. One has to rely more on familiarity with the phone than actually being able to see the buttons.

      Summary
This phone system has been better than I expected, so far. We’ve had no issues with it, but it is still relatively brand new. As the owner of two earlier wireless Panasonic phone systems, I had an idea of what I was getting and what I expected. To date, this system has been superior to our previous Panasonic systems and it has more PROS than CONS.
