About this item

  • JAPANESE STYLE PULL SAW: This product is a “Pull Saw.” Most people are used to European saws, called “push saws,” which cut through a pushing motion. On the other hand, Japanese saws cut materials via pulling and are called “pull saws.” In comparison to “push saws,” this Japanese product is lighter in weight, requires less power, and results in a cleaner edge.
  • JAPANESE STEEL: All SUIZAN Japanese saws consist of top quality Japanese steel. The high-quality steel makes razor sharp cuts.
  • MADE IN JAPAN: All SUIZAN woodworking tools are manufactured in Japan by Japanese master craftsmen. The whole process of making these tools are completed in one of Japan’s towns known for its craft-making tradition with a history of over 100 years.
  • DIVERSIFY YOUR WOODWORKING LIFE: No matter if you are a master or a beginner, using traditional Japanese-style saws gives you a brand new experience and lets you make a wider range of woodworking products, thus changing your life!
  • For Rip & Cross Cut, Blade Length: 9.5"(240mm), Blade Thickness: 0.02"(0.5mm), TPI: 9&15(1.67mm), Kerf Width: 0.03"(0.8mm), Overall Length: 23.2"(59cm), Since each handle is individually wrapped by hand by craftspeople, its appearance may vary from one to another. What Is a Japanese Pull Saw

What Is a Japanese Pull Saw?

Japanese saws cut wood with pulling force, not pushing force. It can cut accurately with less effort.

About Double Edge Saw (RYOBA)

About Double Edge Saw (RYOBA)

Two different blades on a saw. One is for cutting along the grain called "rip cut", and the other is for cutting across the grain, called "cross cut".

SUIZAN Brand Ambassador

"If you are a fine furniture builder, woodworker or a just DIYer, a SUIZAN saw is going to have a great place in your shop."

The point of using a Japanese saw is to "cut with pulling force". Instead of pushing hard to cut, apply a light force when pulling and relax when pushing, so that you can cut smoothly without getting tired even after long hours of use. Feel and enjoy SUIZAN's authentic Japanese saws.

Honestly... I'm impressed...

Honestly... I'm impressed...
Honestly... I was impressed.I saw many youtube woodworkers mentioning and using a japanese style pull saw like this one, and i just KNEW i was gonna screw it up, somehow... and the few negative reviews that there are certainly were reassuring. But it's actually fairly easy to use, and the ergonomics, although not contoured, fit well in my hand regardless.Also... This thing is large! I was under the impression it was smaller, but even still, omce you find it's "cut rythym", it just cuts thru it like a hot knife thru butter. Once it's going, dont stop! Keep that fluid motion back and forth, allowing it to glide in the kerf. The saw will tell you if your movement or angle is off, bc it will start to bind or bow. That's not the pull saws fault, that's a bad cut motion. The pictures included are of a test piece of 3/4” plywood that I've been using to check 'box joints', 'dowel joints', and strength checks for both. As you can see, the pull saw accurately sliced off my small block with a ready-use edge and the larger cross-cut just needs some light sanding bc I goofed and didn't keep the edge flat/straight when cutting. And this was all done free-hand, not in a vise.Key note: the key to a good cut with this is to literally let the saw do all the work. It does NOT require hardly any pressure in the slightest. Just let the saw glide back and forth in the kerf and you'll be done in no time at all.
