- Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2016This pillow has been amazingly helpful during my pregnancy so far and is by far the best purchase during the pregnancy I've made. I've been using it about two months and it's already well worth the price to me. Before that, I couldn't get comfortable with any pillows - I tried the Leachco c-pillow which didn't work for me at all (too hot and rigid and didn't allow turning over at all), and also just surrounded myself with lots of regular pillows. Nothing lasted the night. Since I've always flipped from side to side a lot and get hot easily, and am very short (4 ft 10 in), I decided to get the petite Comfort U pillow. The first night I used it, it was still in place and being happily used in the morning! The fabric/pillow filling doesn't get hot (while not as cool as a regular pillow, it is infinitely better than the Leachco pillow). The pillow is soft and flexible and the sides narrower than they appear in the picture, which is exactly what I wanted. It is easy to switch from side to side with this pillow and still get support. Getting out of bed isn't a hassle - you can actually roll over the sides, or just flip one of them up (which is what I normally do). When I had really bad back and stomach pain, this pillow was the only place in the entire house that was comfortable, either lying down or propped up in the U-part with another pillow. Per other reviewers, you should fluff the pillow in the dryer periodically - I do it about every two weeks, and think I'm going to start doing it more often. The pillowcase is fairly easy to put on. I have a king size bed so space isn't an issue, but the pillow really doesn't take up much space (as I mentioned above, the sides aren't as wide as they appear in the pictures). It takes up much less space in the bed than if you have standard or king or body pillows on either side of you, and it stays in place.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 17, 2015Aweful. Way too tight to my body, hard to move with. The pillow had a chemical smell and was not soft whatsoever with or without the cover.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2014I'm 5'3" and I bought the petite size.
Before getting pregnant I used to always sleep on my left side so I considered getting a single-side pillow. I'm so glad I didn't. In the first trimester I mostly slept on my right side to my surprise and now I turn from side-to-side throughout the night. It's really nice to not have to drag pillows from one side to the other, as this is pretty disruptive for me and my significant other. Also, I really like having a pillow along my backside for support.
I sleep with the U at my feet because I have a head pillow that I absolutely love and it provides just the right amount of support. I also sleep with another firm pillow under my side to take the pressure off my hips & shoulders. The Comfort U cradles me along the front and back. On the front side it lays just over my side pillow, giving extra girth to support my arm and chest from rolling forward. It ends just under my chin, providing support if I want my head tilted slightly up (it feels easier to breath this way).
A couple things I was disappointed about:
1) the cotton/polyester cover was rough (even after washing) and very warm. I suspect this is because the polyester doesn't breathe well. I ended up sacrificing a king-sized sheet; we cut it in half and to shape and made a pillow cover that I use on top of the pillow cover that was supplied. The pillow feels much cooler and softer after this.
2) I wish the pillow was much fluffier. It's perfect for tucking under my belly for support, along my backside for support, and if I just need a pillow between both legs bent. But if I feel like keeping my bottom leg straight and bending just my top leg, it's not supportive enough. I have to add a second pillow under my top leg.
3) Next time I would buy the full size length. After I read all the reviews for the petite size, I thought I would be ok. And it's fine. If it were a little longer my feet wouldn't get tangled up in the U so much, but really this isn't a bit issue for me. The petite is also nice because it's lighter (7.4 lb.) than the one-piece full size (10 lb.), yet it's still a little effort to lug it out from under the covers when I fix the bed.
Overall, it works for me. I've now integrated it in my sleep regimen and while I was traveling last week and propping a bunch of pillows all around me, I definitely missed it.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2013I reviewed a million of these before purchasing because a. they are all so expensive, and b. i am only 4'11" and i needed one that wasn't too big. I do not willingly sleep on my side. I usually fall asleep on my stomach and wind up on my back with my arms thrown up over my head lol, but I know neither is supposed to be good for you during pregnancy. I also flip and flop a lot so I was put off by the other products that required you to move the entire pillow to the other side when you want to flip. I have been using this pillow for about 3 months (I am 5 months pg now) and so far I still like it. Even though it is petite, it is still big in the sense that it does go all the way around you. If you have a small bed, this may not be the pillow for you because it does take up a lot of the bed. I have a king so this is not an issue for me. I don't love how it keeps me far away from my husband at night but apparently I snore verrrrry loudly when I am pregnant and he has taken to abandoning me in the middle of the night for the spare bedroom anyway so I guess that is no longer an issue :( I like how it is squishy: It is not too firm and poofy. I am a small person with a small neck and pillows that are too big are very uncomfortable for me. All in all, this was a decent choice for me.
