Customers like the quality of the hardware clamp vise. They say it holds well once set, is a very stable platform for working on circuit boards, and has rubber feet that hold it securely in place. The basic design is sound, and it helps hold the board in a position you want it to be in to repair or inspect it. It's great for repairs since you can precisely hold the item while using hot air or de-soldering.
"...Build quality seems fairly good, with rubber feet to prevent it slipping around and it's large enough to hold any board I work on." Read more
"...Use this to hold your components in place while you solder. It's amazing and especially useful with this holder." Read more
"...It has large range of PC boards it can accommodate. The angle of the board is fully, continuously adjustable...." Read more
"Very good product; works exactly described in the video." Read more
Customers find the value of the hardware clamp vise to be great, reasonable, and inexpensive. They also say it's suitable for hobbyists who do not need a robust, all-purpose fixture. Overall, customers give it five stars for value and utility.
"...All in all this vise is great for the money, my only complaint might be that it could be a little shorter to keep the board close to the surface..." Read more
"...A good buy for the money and very sturdy except possibly the plastic board clamps. ." Read more

"...I was so pleased to find out that everything was basically assembled in the box, with the only need being attaching the horizontal supports...." Read more
Customers like the appearance of the hardware clamp vise. They say it has a superior design, the basic design is sound, and well thought out. The stand is simple enough to be stable and secure, and the material finish looks nice.

Customers like the rotation of the hardware clamp vise. They say the jaws aren't damaged by their use, it swivels to provide easy access to both the top and bottom of the board, and it will not flip or move while soldering. They also appreciate that the boards can easily be spun along the axis to present different access to the pcb. Customers also appreciate the spring tension that allows rotation of board without locking down the thumb screw. They mention that it's nice that they can flip the board quickly while it'd be clamped down.

Customers are mixed about the build quality of the hardware clamp vise. Some mention that the parts that need it are made of metal, while others say that the blue portion of the tool is made out of plastic and feels somewhat flimsy. All in all this vise is great for the money, my only complaint might be that it could be a little shorter to keep the board close to the surface of the bench. Build quality seems fairly good, with rubber feet to prevent it slipping around and it's large enough to hold any board I work on.
If you need this holder I recommend one other product that will help you. These two products will revolutionize your soldering experience. Get Blu Tack. This is the stuff you might use to stick a poster to a wall. It's a bit like silly putty or clay but it releases without leaving a mess. Use this to hold your components in place while you solder. It's amazing and especially useful with this holder.
It has large range of PC boards it can accommodate. The angle of the board is fully, continuously adjustable. The legs are spread to give good stability...at least for small to moderate sized boards. Have not tried it with larger, max sized boards.
A dab of liquid rubber in the groves would probably work better and last longer but we work with what we have... This item is weighted well with a low center of gravity and is very sturdy when tightened down all the way. The cross members are all metal with sturdy rubber insulated feet but the two uprights and the clamps or holders are made with hard plastic which let the board slide around to easily (this is where I added the rubber cement dabs). A good buy for the money and very sturdy except possibly the plastic board clamps. .
The ease of use on this little thing is amazing, and the price is right! Although i am curious about the design on why the retention screws for both PCB clamps and base sliding units are opposite of each other and not on the same side. This makes it a little awkward to have to reach around the unit to secure both sides in to help ensure there is very little lateral when soldering SMD components. Although, one could argue that one side should be set and the other side does the moving. But all in all a simple enough design and robust enough to be stable and secure.
I'd recommend this to anyone working on PCBs either through hole or surface mount but cation the depth of the holders if components are very close to the edge of the board.
