Customers are mixed about the quality of the computer chassis. Some mention that they have no complaints about the build quality, it's relatively solid, and an excellent piece of hardware. However, others say that the all-plastic construction is somewhat flimsy, the quality is not the best, and it'd be better suited for a lower price point. Customers are mixed about the fit of the computer chassis. Some mention that it fits their case well, while others say that it doesn't fit in any of them. The trays do not seem to fit as tightly or as smoothly as they would have liked.

The other common complaints - molex power connectors and connector location - are really only relevant if you're putting this in a desktop. In a server chassis, connector placement is perfect. And the clunky old molex connectors are more mechanically secure than SATA power connectors.
Overall, I think the quality is fantastic for the price. This has to be one of the best values in server components I've seen in a long time. I prefer the trays over trayless designs and the fact that they're designed to accommodate both 3.5" and 2.5" drives without an adapter shows good attention to design. Cooling is the other area where this unit excels. There is good provision for airflow (within the size constraints) and the 120mm fan runs at a sane (moderate) RPM for nice quiet operation while still moving plenty of air.
I can definitely say these drive cages are going to become a standard feature in all my server builds.
1) Combining the activity LED and power LED into a single LED to save maybe 50 cents is a mistake. Having it blink OFF for activity is crazy.
2) The LEDs are too bright and I hate blue.
3) The all-plastic construction is somewhat flimsy, though I have never had any part break or fail to fit.
4) Related to the all-plastic construction, the engagement and latching of the slide-in caddy is quite poor. You have to take care that it is making proper contact, and it stands to loosen up if disturbed in any way.
In summary, however, I regard this as the best available unit.
I had a 5 GB drive that was running hot (about 40* C at idle). The uber-quiet (but super low airflow) 80mm fans didn't do a whole lot to help it, once in this enclosure the temps dropped 10* C thanks to the airflow of the massive 120mm fan. As it's basically the only drive in the enclosure currently, we'll see how that holds up once it's filled.
A couple of (potential) issues.
One, this is *VERY* deep. I'm dropping this into a case ( NORCO 4U Rack Mount Server Chassis - Black RPC-470 ), and while it has a ton of room before the fan black, there was *ALMOST* not enough room for the whole thing (accounting for cables, and not getting interference with the fans). So double check that you have enough room. You *COULD* remove the fan to free up quite a bit or room if you're not concerned about temps.
Secondly, the plastic housing at the front (where the drive sleds lock into place) is significantly wider than the metal housing, The metal housing fit *VERY* tight in place, the plastic wanted to catch. It took a lot of finessing, some leverage, and shoving to get it into place. It doesn't seem to affect how the drive sleds go in or lock, but if your case is slightly tighter it might not be able to go in at all. The plastic housing could be removed and the sleds still used (they wont lock, of course), that's a sub-optimal solution.
Overall, I'm really happy with this housing. It works well for what I need, and once I managed to get it in was easy to use.
New model is okay for the money too but too different to be listed on the same page as the hot swap model in my opinion. Don't put the drives in backwards like I did at first.

This Rosewill cage was actually put together pretty well, I chose this over other tool-less ones because this one can actually accept 2.5" SSD's without any adapters, as the trays have holes for 2.5" SSD/HDD. Another reaason was that this has a 120mm fan, most others have smaller, noisy fans. But I removed the included fan anyway, and reinstalled my 120mm ball bearing PWM fan which I connect to the motherboard to control its speed. I don't know how loud or quiet the Rosewill fan would have been, but I didnt want to experiment.
The trays are plastic but if you aren't going to swap drives daily I think they will last if you're not rough with them.
All in all, it works great, except I don't know why the drive 2 LED flashes continuously. Not sure why, nothing is being accessed on it.

The one draw back that I have that is in no way related to the bay itself (which is why I am not holding it against it) is that I can't easily hot swap drives because my motherboard only supports 2 hot swap spots which are taken up with 2 other hot swap drive bays I have (I wanted 6 bays in total so I could buy more storage drives). Once I get a newer motherboard I hope to have 6 hot swap bays available. But for now I can just shut down plug in the drive and start back up again or shut down take the drive out and start back up again.
The bay was a bit snug to get in, but a bit of wiggling and it slid in and I was able to lock the drive in with the cases tool-less drive bays. I don't know how hard it would be to remove because I have no plans on removing it, but I doubt it would be much issue.
It is mostly made out of plastic but thats ok, it works just fine. If I ever need another hot swap bay for another PC I will certainly buy another one.
It's ok, I like it, there are better devices out there but not for the price I pad way back when I bought this thing.
