I bought this for a baby shower so I can't speak for the product's performance. However, I've heard from many women that white noise machines are very helpful to soothe babies and help them sleep which is why I got this for my sister who will be a first time mom.My item shipped the morning after I purchased and arrived in 5 days. Fairly quick, it was a Wednesday night when I purchased and I recieved it Monday. I was supposed to recieve on Friday but it was delayed. Then it was Sunday and they said it was delivered in a parcel locker but I don't have a parcel locker. I just have a mailbox and front door at my house where they're always delivered. My other package which was in the same order arrived Sunday so I think they just forgot the second one on the truck and stored it for me at the post office to be mailed today instead.It was shipped in a nonpadded envelope so the box was a little beat up on the edges. This is for a baby shower so I'm bummed that it doesn't look the best. I had to gently peel the tape off to double check that the item itself wasn't damaged. Thankfully it looked fine.I don't think my sister will care about beat up boxes but it still bothered me a bit, especially because it's an electronic item technically that could be damaged. I hope they'll start packaging this in a box or padded envelope instead.If it works well for my sister I'll try to remember to update my review.

    This works well....meaning, the different sounds are good for baby. For me, as an adult, there are some funky background noises with the "crickets/peepers in the woods". Not sure if it is supposed to be water or what.

    We have the older green version of this sound machine in two kids' bedrooms, and bought this updated version for our baby's bedroom. All 3 have the same sounds, which matters to me because kids can be fussy with little changes like that. I think both the sound and quality of the new product are superior, and I'm very pleased with my purchase. I really, really like that this version has buttons instead of knobs. After a few hundred falls on the floor, and a move to a new house, the knobs don't always work. There are no such issues with the buttons. It's also easy to control the volume, which I appreciate.

    Above and beyond the technical aspects of this sound machine, I'd also like to just say that this is a fantastic device for parent peace of mind. It's HARD getting kids to go to sleep and stay asleep. Especially if you live in a smaller house, older house, or just make noise after your kids go to bed. This sound machine is a lifesaver for providing enough white noise to keep littles asleep without being annoying or headache-inducing. We primarily use the "white noise" setting, but none of the sounds are offensive. My kids now stay asleep through sibling wakeups, storms, loud movies, vacuuming, cleaning, visitors coming and going, and other loud noises. Do yourself a favor, and add some security to your nighttime routine!

    Pros:
    Good variety of noises.

    Loud enough that we normally don't put it to full volume.

    Cons:
    There is a noticeable sound loop. I only notice it when I'm doing late night feeding with the kids and I'm sitting there focusing on it. Otherwise I don't notice it.

    Interesting:
    The heartbeat sound is a little funky but still effective.
    Buttons make a clicking sound. Didn't bother us but it is pretty loud.

    I bought this for my toddler to use at my mom’s house. It needed to be compact and loud, and it is both.

    Pros:
    - only a few sounds to cycle through, so if you accidentally change the sound, it won’t take much to find it again
    - slim and easy to take with you
    - settings are easy to use
    - noise is continuous

    Cons:
    Only one, but it really matters to me
    - the white noise setting is a bit high pitched. A deeper/more rumbling brown noise would really be preferable

    Overall, it’s a good little machine, though I prefer our other brand more as it has a brown noise setting.

    We have bought 3 of these (for different locations) and they have lasted for years. We’ve had one of them for about 4 years? It gets kicked around and played with by the kids and it works great. Just be sure your kids don’t hit the timer button before you walk away if you don’t want a timer set. We just use the white noise sound but the others are nice too, especially the ocean sound. By far our favorite sound machine. Can be really quiet or nice and loud.

    We have one of these in each bedroom. They are perfect and still going strong after years of being used daily. There are different sounds to pick from from white noise to ocean and rain sounds. You can travel with the unit. I believe it needs 4AA batteries if you don’t want to bring the cord, but it lasts forever on just the batteries.
    I wish the volume control would have one more level between good loud and super loud.
