Update 3 No replacement sent. Did not receive full refund. The replacement unit was not available and therefore frigidaire decided without my approval to send me a prepaid card for the amount of the unit. However, they will not include the $31 I paid for taxes. They sent an email stating as "you agreed" which I did not. They call this refund method a "buy back" and told me I can use the refund from the unit to purchase a new one from a different supplier. This would make sense if 1) they issued me the entire amount spent meaning include the tax 2) the price of the unit didn't go up. I have lost $31 and now the unit is $69 more than I originally paid for. Why on earth would I want to buy another unit and risk losing more money if it happens again? Makes no logical sense. I understand they didn't have the unit in stock now. But to be honest it's fall. Had they contacted me to give me the option of either waiting for it to come in longer or to take the refund INCLUDING the tax, that would've made a world of a difference. When However,when I asked if they could just send me the replacement unit later they said no.Update 2 I managed to get through to Frigidaire and they are sending me a replacement unit. The air conditioner shouldn't produce black dust.UPDATE 1: Reducing to 2 stars as customer service has been unresponsive to my cracked frame issue. What's the point of registering your device if your emails and calls are ignored when there is an issue?Remote control: The remote control this came with arrived broken. However, I am using this with my Alexa so it doesn't bother me too much.Noise Level: I think the noise level is fine for me.APPLICATIONS ALEXA/FRIGIDAIRE: I like that I can easily connect this to my Alexa app. For those complaining about the app not working I'm not sure why it works well for me. I have an Android phone and downloaded the Frigidaire app from the play store as well as enabled the Frigidaire skill in the Alexa app. The reason I kept Frigidaire app is that it does more than you can do with just the Alexa app.Meaning the only things I can do with Alexa is have her1) turn the a/c on/off2) increase/decrease the a/c temperature by x amount (example increase air conditioner by two degrees3) set the a/c to a specific temperature (example Alexa set air conditioner to 70 degrees)ONLY TIME I've have issues is when I say "Alexa, have the 'A/C' do x" instead I need to say "Alexa, have the 'AIR CONDITIONER' do x" but I believe you can change that in the Alexa app.4) Set the mode (cool,econ,fan)5) set on high,lowAlthough you cannot use voice command for the Frigidaire app it does allow you to do the same things as Alexa can using your phone as well as1) Set a timer - it doesn't ask you for how long instead if your a/c is ON it'll give you a list of times during the day and you select at what time you want the a/c OFF. It works the same if your A/C is OFF, it'll ask you to select a time to turn it ON. ONE ISSUE HERE is that for some reason some of the times don't save and you have to pick another one. These are in 15 min increments so it's not that big of a deal.2) VIEW OF ROOM TEMP. - I wish this was something that Alexa could tell you but she can't so aleast the Frigidaire app can show you the current room temperature.3) VIEW OF A/C SET TEMPERATURE- while the Alexa app allows you to tell her what to set the a/c to, it will not tell you what the a/c is set to when asked. This is what is nice about the Frigidaire app is that it shows you the current temp the a/c is set to.4) scheduler- this is supposed to program the times you want your a/c to turn on and off throughout the day/week. However, I found this part to be glitchy and just didn't feel the need for it.The only suggestion I would have for the Frigidaire app is if we could select a room temperature that we wanted and have the option of the a/c turning on and off automatically to keep it at that temperature. This is the same concept that centeral air uses.Cons:While the ion filter is great. Please be aware it will leave a black residue near surrounding things. I wish there was an easier way to clean that and if there were any ways to clean the inside of the metal mesh since it's all black. However the black residue has decreased over time.Overall though I am enjoying the a/c and the sleek design.5 month UPDATE:PLEASE CHECK THE AIR FILTER AREA ONCE RECEIVED. After being prompted to clean the air filter. I removed the mesh cover to discover that the plastic face plate was damaged which is what I believe was contributing to the black residue. The face plate was not screwed onto the unit because the area where the screw was suppose to attach the faceplate to the unit was cracked. This created a gap on the right side of the unit. Something I missed because of the location of the gap. I believe for this reason because the air did not have a chance to go through the other filter and would leak through the side it created a black residue to appear. I have contacted customer service and am waiting for their response.

My mother is 90% paralyzed. The fact that she can control things with her voice through Alexa is a blessing, so every time I seek to purchase something, I look something that can be voice controlled through Alexa, which was the case for this AC unit.

Once the unit was installed, I proceeded to power it one using the remote control. To my surprise, the face plate is not sticking. Further, I suspect the battery is dead, although I cannot check this unless I go buy another battery. It's either that or the remote is faulty. So I powered it using the on/off switch of the unit itself.

Next and most important, I proceeded to link the unit to our Alexa ecosystem. The Android phone can connect fine to the AC, but then a stupid flaw in this app, it ask you to enter 7 or so fields (name, address, what not...) after which, when you're done, you find out the AC disconnected by timeout. At the 3rd attempt I simply entered bogus infos to get it done quick, then you see the AC detect the SSID of your Wi-Fi router, select it, enter password, and.... timeout with a network error. I tried about 10 times, then tried with my own android phone: same result. After an hour and a half, I gave up and called support.

The lady said the unit was in storage too long and that the PKI certificate expired. They offered a rebate for the missing Wi-Fi feature, but I refused since it is the most important thing needed from that unit and why I purchased it. Now because of this coronavirus thing, they won't send someone to repair and they don't want the unit back, so they offred a 100% rebate, which sounded sweet at first, but I realized it is not refund.

- First, the taxes and shipping are not included in the rebate.
- Second, I have to buy another Frigidaire/Kelvinator/white-Westinghouse/Gibson & Tappan AC of equal or lesser value. The amount paid for that unit shall be the amount of the rebate I will receive.
- Third, I have about 4 to 5 weeks to make the purchase.
- Fouth, I have to mail them the new model, serial number and invoice of the new purchase along with serial tags of the current unit (which is a sticker not made to be removed).
- Fifth, I will receive a prepaid debit/credit card equal to the paid amount for the new unit.

I cannot find in Canada another Frigidaire AC with Wi-Fi (looks like I got the last one?). So I want the ability to buy from another manufacturer, which means I want a full refund, not a less than what I wanted AC. But these company, once you give them cash, they never NEVR want to give it back. They'll give you rebates, vouchers, but never refund. That's not flying with me.

Fortunately, I'm a Prime member, so maybe I will have better luck through Amazon. If that does not work, looks like I will see Frigidaire in small claims court. :(

Think twice before you buy. These things might better be purchased in a conventional store, maybe.

3 Stars because as an AC unit, it deserves 5 but as for the set up of the app and related CS support, 0.
After multiple failed attempts to connect and it walking us through the same steps each time (rather than saving the info), i caved in and called the support number only to hear a message to send an email. I’m used to Nest, Ring, Sonos, etc so the lack of ease to connect and subsequent bad UX for support was frustrating.
Summary: great, 5 star AC unit, terrible app and CS.
