While other rooftop carrier bags let in water through the zipper or quickly wear out, we’ve designed ours using triple-layer waterproof tarpaulin that weathers rain, wind, grit, or heat, and fitted it with a zipper flap that helps keep your items 100% dry. |
This 43” (L) X 34” (W) X 17” (H) car roof bag packs 15 cubic feet (425 liters) of space to give you ample storage room, And unlike a hard car top carrier that struggles to fit odd-shaped items, ours has soft sides that flex to accommodate them. |
Great for cars, vans or SUVs with roof rack systems, it provides 15 cubic feet of convenient, secure storage. We’ve included 8 reinforced straps with heavy-duty buckles to easily and securely install the waterproof roof top bag. |

I feel this would be better used in combination with a roof basket and had to do some work to make it work with what I had. I added two things to make the bag more usable for me. I cut some 2x2 and painted (for weather proofing) to make a lifted base that sat on the roof rails. I also took a piece of Hardie Board (what I had on hand) and cut to fit the inside diameter to add a sturdy flat base to lay stuff on with it on the roof.
The flexibility of the bag adds challenges to getting stuff in the bag and keeping it stable while adding additional items as you pack. It also makes it a bit of a challenge when zipping and strapping securely as you need to tighten little at a time to keep the bag from pulling one direction and loosing on the other. It isn't overly difficult, but adds some time needed for packing. Working on a ladder didn't help this either. Best way to pack is to pack on flat ground and then lift into place with two or more people (depending on weight), I did this when packing to leave the house, but didn't have help lifting and pulled a muscle getting it elevated enough. Packing at the hotel I packed on the Jeep. Packing on the ground was better/easier, but packing on the Jeep was easier for a one man army to pull off. Straps to hold the bottom in place while you pack the unit would be helpful.
The unit can hold a lot due to it's flexibility. I couldn't see any hard roof cargo holder being able to hold the odd shaped items I needed to put up there (Large Stroller (and I mean large), Large soft bags, etc) all together. But I did find it was better to spread the load out wide then tall (obviously). The ride down wasn't very noisy even at 80mph and gas mileage was just 4 MPG lower then usual on this trip. Coming back I put different items in it that made it as tall as it would expand, this lowered gas mileage by 8 MPG and was very noisy on the drive back. I could better pay attention when packing it on the ground so it was just better packed.
Would recommend.
Pro's
Kept everything dry even in heavy rain.
Handled 80 mph with no issues
Straps seem to have good sturdy stitching.
Cons
Being a soft bag it could use a roof basket or board on the inside to add some rigidity to it.
Strapping is a challenge due to being a bag, more time needed to pack and rework your packing
Material doesn't seem to be the type that will last the life of a vehicle, but this trip it showed no wear.

TL:DR - functions great, some drawbacks, would probably get something different but just because of personal preference. It works great.
1. It's big. I was surprised at how big it was and how much you could it in there. We didn't fill it up at all, so we could have fit way more stuff in there. I think this is a positive.
2. It's a bit annoying to put on the car. There are a lot of straps (which is nice as far as security goes, but annoying as far as using the straps themselves). I was putting this on in early March in CT and it was cold out, so my hands were freezing as I messed with the straps.
3. We had a lot of extra strap hanging from the bag after putting our stuff in it and cinching it down tight. There's not great strap management native to the bag, so I just wrapped the extra around parts of the bag and tied them off. If you don't, the straps are super loud as they flap around and bounce off your car while driving. So you definitely need to secure the straps to A) keep your ride quiet, but also B) prevent the flapping straps from damaging the bag. Having all the strap extras tied up is great for traveling, but it's a pain to undo them and redo them if you need to access stuff in the bag during your trip. This is best used to stow stuff that you won't need to access until you're done with your trip completely.
4. We had some snow/sleet/freezing weather that froze up on the bag, making the straps impossible to use. The ice on the straps made it so I couldn't easily loosen or tighten them during our journey. It wasn't an issue as the bag stayed put very well and I was never worried about it shifting around or coming off, but it's something to note if you're going to have mess with the straps in wintery weather and open/close the bag during travel.
5. It seems to be very weatherproof honestly. We drove through rain and snow and sleet and the flaps that cover the zipper seem to do their job. The bag is very sturdy and actually hard to manipulate, especially when it's cold outside. Like a super-tarp. I was worried that it might be more vulnerable in the cold (plastic tends to rip/break more when it's cold) but we had no issues. The inside of the bag was not wet after being in the weather. HOWEVER, I noticed that when we had the sealed bags of dog food up there, they seemed to be "sweaty" when I took them out. I'm not sure if that was due to condensation within the bag because we went through a lot of temperature changes during our trip and the air inside the bag reacts to those changes. Nothing was damaged or anything, and the slight dampness I found DOES NOT seem to be from weather getting inside the bag. Just something to note: the air inside the bag will act like normal air as you travel, potentially creating some condensation.
OVERALL
I think for $70 it's a super functional option. Normally I subscribe to the "buy once, cry once" philosophy when it comes to purchases but I opted for this cheaper cargo carrier option instead of one of the solid Thule rooftop carriers. We sold our house so I didn't have the space to store a solid carrier when not in use, so I went with the bag option for it's storage ability. It holds a lot of gear, seems to be perfectly weatherproof, but the strap system is annoying for many reasons. Were I to buy again, I wouldn't. I'd rather have the solid carrier that locks than this bag. But that's 100% personal preference and no fault of the product. Honestly it functioned very well, and at like 20% of the cost of the hard-top carriers, it's a great option.
Top reviews from other countries
It's done the job perfectly as expected, only had a little bit of rain but it's kept everything dry and was very easy to strap to the roof bars.
A cheap alternative to a roof box.
