My 15 year old niece discovered an old cassette player her parents still had put away in the basement. She asked for cassettes for Christmas. I knew I had to send her music I used to listen to. She has loved this tape!!

This is the Bangles' most notable album with their mega-hit "Manic Monday." Add to that, it's colored vinyl, makes this entire presentation a home run.

If "All Over the Place" was rawer and closer to the sound the Bangles wanted to bring to the world, "Different Light" is more polished, more pop, and more hit-friendly. Over the years I have waffled back and forth between which album I prefer the most. It comes down to this: if you're in the mood for harder rocking tunes, then "All Over the Place" is your pick; if you want more polished adult pop candy, then "Different Light" will be your favorite.
Me? I think I give the edge to "All Over the Place" because it was my first introduction to the Bangles, and I prefer harder rocking songs. I consider either album an 80's classic and both are essential.

Overall, a pretty solid endeavor. There are no weak tracks, really. I kind of like the title song and "Walk Like An Egyptian" and "Manic Monday" are instant classics. "Walking Down Your Street" is endearing as well. My only disappointment is that it did not include "Hazy Shade of Winter", a remake of the Simon & Garfunkel gem.

The Bangles 1986 Differrent Light , Bonus cd , a very enjoyable, the Bangles breakthrough album , featuring Manic Monday, for provided the spark for their success, also on this Walk LIke an Egypitan , also the bonus track along Manic Monday, September Gurls, Not like You, If she knew what she wants, Walking down your street. It was refreshing to hear and all girl group professionally playing their instruments with the best of the other groups who didn't think Women could rock and roll Definitely worth having as a compilation

It's got several hits but I was delighted by several tract I'd never heard. I'm an 80's freak so this was great.
It got to me faster than promised, which was nice too.

First Music On Vinyl pressing I've been disappointed with. And to be fair, it's a fairly small issue, but the first couple notes are cut off at the start of the song Standing In The Hallway. It drives my OCD a little nutty! Otherwise it is a quality pressing, nice glossy cover, and a good product. I bought it for those reasons and to support MoV even though I have a nice original pressing. Just those oddly missing notes stopping me from giving it a rave review.

The Bangles Break Out
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 7, 2016
This is the album that launched the Bangles to superstardom with the singles Manic Monday [written by Prince] and the wonderfully quirky Walk Like An Egyptian, but that is not all, there is not a bad track on this album. Walking Down Your Street, September Gurls and If She Knew What She Wants are all fine tracks. The sound of the album is also great the harmonies are wonderful and the guitars sparkle, the Bangles came up with a string of California bands in the early eighties bands such as Los Lobos, The Long Ryders and Lone Justice this album made The Bangles the most successful of this flowering of sixties influenced bands. For the band there biggest single would be on their next album, but this is their best album, for the band the next album would be followed by a long hiatus before they reformed and they continue to make wonderful sixties influenced pop.
