Wet: A One Night Stand Only Romance Novel (Love in Lone Star Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 153 ratings

There’s nothing worse than living in a small town where everyone hates you. I’m the reporter, people deal with me because they have to – not because they want to. And that includes sexy city council member, cowboy/rancher and legal guardian to his little siblings, Ryan John.

If what happened two months ago is any indication, I know he wants me too. It was fleeting, sexy and risky and when he comes to me for help, he offers the one thing I want.

Himself.

But only for one night.

I’ve never given up going after what I want, why would I start now?

Wet: A Small Town Romance (Love in Lone Star Book 1)
    By: Ashley Bostock
    5 out of 5 stars

The story Wet: A Small Town Romance (Love in Lone Star Book 1) by Ashley Bostock is a contemporary romance book. This is the story of Miranda Phillips and Ryan John. Miranda has grown up an outcast in the town of Lone Star. She has a reputation that the town will not let her forget. She also has fallen hard for Ryan John a farmer and member of the city council. Ryan knows that he can’t fall for Miranda. He has his reputation and his younger brother and sister to protect. However, he can’t get her out of his mind so he proposes a deal. One night with him in exchange for her investigative skills into who is after his shares of water rights. What will Miranda find out about the mysterious company and their motives? Will one night be enough for both Miranda and Ryan or will it touch off a fire that is too hard to put out?

This is the first story that I have read by the author and can say that it won’t be the last. She has a wonderful way of weaving a story that keeps your interest all the way through and has written characters that you care about. This story does have some twists to it and I would find myself thinking that I knew what was going on and then something else would happen that would lead me down an entirely different path. This is also a story about small towns and the way that some people are treated. Everyone in this world makes mistakes and no one should have to go through what Miranda does. I found myself frustrated with the townspeople who have such closed minds. Miranda is a very strong and smart woman. She has to be in order to keep living in Lone Star. Miranda has a large heart which beats for one man, Ryan John. Will Miranda find herself in Ryan’s arms or will her status in the community stamp out any chance of a romance?

Ryan is a man that has a lot of responsibility. A farm, a spot on the city council, and his younger brother and sister to raise. He is very attracted to Miranda, however, her past and how the town sees her is all he can see. I knew that they both are crazy for each other from the beginning and was always rooting for them to get together. He also has a situation that he needs Miranda’s help with and soon finds himself spending more time with her. He begins to question choices that he has made in his life and starts to wonder about the future. Will Ryan find that he wants Miranda as part of his future? Will he find out who is trying to buy his stock of water rights? Is there more going on than meets the eye? Read this story to find out if Miranda and Ryan get their happy ending. This story does have adult situations which include some very steamy love scenes. It would be recommended for those 18 years of age and older. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Miranda and Ryan have so much to work through to become a couple, peer pressure as an adult is real. Miranda is a strong women, she has her self doubts as we all do but she is a force to be reckoned with and definitely more the main character. Ryan is sexy and trying to find his way, glad he had help. They are also dealing with a mystery.

I love the cover of this book, it's basically what sold me. Once I started reading it was pretty decent, but then it got boring. I finished it because I wanted to see what happened, but it took a few days. Definitely NOT an "I can't put it down" story.

This book had a slight mystery feel to it that kept me wondering how things were going to turn out. The story centered in a small town with typical small town politics that can be ugly at times. However, the book drew me in and I could relate to some of the characters in the small town setting and how they navigated through all the gossip. The writer kept it interesting until the very end. Awesome job.

This was an okay read. It was what I expected it to be. It's one of those familiar romance novels. Which isn't a bad thing when you are somewhat stuck in a reading stump. Here's the thing though. I didn't care for any of the characters especially Miranda. She came across a bit pathetic at times. I mean a man that doesn't want you whether or not he engaged in sexual relations isn't a challenge. He's a jerk and needs to be the one to come begging.

I enjoyed this first in the series, which I purchased at reduced/free cost while on sale. Book #3 "Wicked" had been on my TBR list and I decided to start with book 1 first. This is a good base story for the set up of the location, premise, characters and how everyone fits together, yet is separate. However, it is long and detailed, which I thought could use some tightening up. My pet peeve happened, spelling and grammatical errors. Sometimes I was a little lost due to some of the errors, but I continued the story. I like the story/series and I purchased book 3, which I wanted anyway. I will, at some point, add book 2, "Wild", so none of the above negatives stopped my purchasing.
I will always ask that as authors self-publish, or even work with Beta Readers, PLEASE save for an editor, or hire an English teacher at the high school or college level. Grammar and punctuation errors detract from the read, the momentum of a story and can lose a reader through confusion and/or irritation.
4 starts for the errors; but I think you'll like this series and the author also. Happy Reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars Now years later the small town she calls home still sees her as the girl who did everything you could think of bad: drugs

I read Wet by Ashley Bostock and I give it a 5/5.

Miranda Phillips is a small town newspaper journalist and reporter. Growing up on the wrong side of the tracks with a drunk for a father caused Miranda to be a real trouble maker in her youth. Now years later the small town she calls home still sees her as the girl who did everything you could think of bad: drugs, drinking, vandalism, and lots of sex. Can Miranda get the town’s people to see that she has changed from that young reckless teenager to a grown up woman?

Ryan John was a fun loving accounting major just living his life; until both of his parents died in a car crash leaving him to raise his twin thirteen year old brother and sister, Brianna and Alex. Now fast forward years later and Ryan now runs his parents ranch and sits on the city council showing the town he is a responsible adult. In walks Miranda who catches Ryan’s eye from the start even if he knows that she will not be good for him, his siblings, or his reputation. When someone is trying to buy Ryan’s water rights he makes a deal with Miranda to help him investigate. Will Ryan be able to see past what everyone else thinks and act on the fact that he and Miranda are right for each other? Will he see that she isn’t that girl anymore?

This book was such an intriguing read I could not put it down. I highly recommend this book.

Struggled to like either of the lead characters and quite frankly found the story to get so slow and sluggish. There was a bit of a mystery within the romance with so much potential to liven the story up. Sadly it didn’t and the author added more sex scenes that seemed repetitious to me. Disappointed.
